Hey, nice job! The artwork and music were really nice, and the overall vibe did feel pretty chill and cozy. Some small quality of life things:
- I think SmartNet, collect rubbish, and probably confirm could have been the same button. Just makes life a bit easier, and pressing 'E' while swimming right with 'D' was a bit awkward.
- I think it'd be nice to have the timer stop during dialog and typing. I get that having the timer during typing adds a bit to the tension, but I feel like for a cozy aesthetic, just having it for the background/exploration part is plenty. But that's more of a taste thing.
- Another preference thing, but I think the movement might have felt a bit better as tank controls (move forward /backward with W,S and change pitch with A,D) but can't say for sure. it's the type of ting that you might want to try a few different configurations and playtest to see what feels best.
But overall I really enjoyed the experience. The world itself is very pretty as you encounter more fish, and you have a nice core tension with multiple things to collect in a limited time.
Excellent, absoletely stunning use of the theme -- there's a tension between choosing collecting fish or trash because of the oxygen countdown. The pixelart is lovely and the gray-green tint and trash adds a fittingly sad feeling. Controls were a bit clunky. The experience of encountering a whale or a sunfish suddenly for the first time is fun. I've learned things too about scientific names, which is neat. I encountered a minor bug where I was typing a name and the inner monologue also appeared -- and then I couldn't hit enter on the typing window, so the battery ran out. I liked how the battery running out separately from oxygen is a way to help players look for something else to do, something beyond the instructions. Very well-executed! Not exactly comfy/summer-themed. However, centering the topic of ocean pollution and cleanup even when things feel hopeless is vitally important. Thank you!
Cool game! I have talassophobia, but for some reason, the game was chill, I think the typing mechanic distracted me from it hehe
Wow, thanks for pushing through to give the game a go! Next time you go swimming, you just need to take your keyboard! :D
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Very nice game, graphics look good, game plays well, i had fun diving and collecting the fish but will probably forget their Latin names quickly :D too bad this is today’s reality, hope your game can make people think!
Thanks! I had only dabbled in pixel art in the past, but had a lot of fun learning. :D I am happy that you enjoyed playing!
