This thread will be used to compile various questions that y'all might have pertaining to the jam.

Please make sure to read the rules and FAQ first before asking a question here!

What are we allowed to do before the jam starts?

Host (1 edit) (+2)

The standard stuff, such as  brainstorming, researching, plot-outlining, team building, concept sketches. Asset-creation and writing are also allowed to an extent, but it's preferable that a majority of that be done during the jam period.

Thanks, (Sorry I didn't see the FAQ before I posted that (didn't realize the drop down was there))

For the merfolk, can we make new 'specie types'(not sure about the better word for it) or do they have to be based on previously established ones?

Host(+1)

As long as it fits the template of "part-human, part aquatic creature", then maybe that could work. It depends on the species in question.

hi, me and my teammate are infatuated by the idea of making a visual novel about fishmen, but we want our game to be a little bit grimy rather than as cute as the theming seems to imply, will we still be allowed to participate so long as we do not break any of the rules? we are both artists and are extremely enthusiastic about our idea and this jam :)

That's fine. Just make sure it complies with the rules and anything goes, really.

Submitted

Hi, just wanted to confirm if submitting an unfinished game/demo is allowed? Q&A addresses working on existing demos, but I am unsure if I can submit a demo for the jam.  Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Demos are allowed. I'm not sure where the confusion is on that part.

I really only ask that you submit something playable before the deadline.
