Is updating your game always like this?

I made my game in Godot, and uploaded it to itch io. When I want to update my game, do I have to export the game again, then compress it into ZIP file, then replace the old game file on itch with the new one? Or is there a more simple way?

that is the simplest way I've found to do it, but I know itch has a tool called butler that might be able to help? I've never personally messed with it so idk

That's the way I did it AG.

It was hell for getting my leaderboards working because I had to 1) make changes 2) export 3) ZIP the files 4) upload to itch 5) test on the web 6) REPEAT until I finally figured out what was wrong.

I think I found a slightly easier way when I was trying to do something web related and I just used my own site to put the raw folder in (you don’t even need an actually site you can just open it through your computer) it that is any help

Yeah exactly, it's so time-consuming. If you want to add the tiniest change in a patch you have to do the whole process again.

Try butler; you can just run a command and it’ll automatically do it. If you’re pushing to GitHub, you can even have an automatic script build and push on every commit
