I was expecting this to be a joke on the souls like games, what I got instead was a shockingly fun combat system with rpg elements and weapons and bosses and oh my god just take my money and finish this! Jokes aside, I felt like the wheel was rather unwieldy, and while im sure this was part of the experience, it annoyed me as I was fighting it more than I was the enemies, especially since the first weapon you get is RIDICULOUSLY small; PLEASE make it larger, its so damn hard to hit anything with that dinky little dagger when your wheel is so large and since its so light you spin so fast you almost never hit the target. Once I got further and got bigger weapons the issue solved itself.
This game made me think of jump king quest, and I am seriously interested in a more refined and updated version in the future, as this was a lot of fun!
Wonderful games, that is so junky and unresponsive that I loved every second of it. It felt like I was playing a soul project instead of very polished corporate jam games. The weapon system is very flawed but so creative and definitely the best part of the game. Some slope parkour was too hard for my liking but everything else was mwah, very cool. Will recommend this game to other people
Really fun. Feels like a game you'd play on cool maths games or newgrounds. Really good job!
Unfortunately, I can't give the game a perfect score for consistency, since the souls-likes are about rolling, not spinning. :)
On the other hand, it's a 5/5 for creativity.
In fact, the simple, somewhat silly style is a plus for this game. The mechanics are much more interesting than they seem at first glance.
The only thing missing is some absurd plot in the style of Monty Python or something.
The game reminded me of stupid, yet talented, Flash games. And that's a good comparison.
As you can see, I've been having WAAAY too much fun in this one.
Your title is as serious as it is unserious sometimes. You've successfully merged the core loop of dark souls with controls of happy wheels and slapped classic Swords and Sandals aesthetic on top of all that, then made it your own with the spin of a jam. I might be totally biased, but games so cleverly developed deserve to win some prizes. I'd say, you winning the CrazyGames award would give you wonders, since you could further think how to gain financial revenue from your work as a browser game. Outstanding work.
And not to leave you too glazed, I'd say some extra screen shake for critical damage (like 100+, my max without damage upgrades was 314) would up the UX. Some extra audio would be nice, for the rockets for example (however the randomized pitch for steel clash is already present, which is most welcome).
Lets talk abilities: I only upgraded spinning, which is the driving force of the core mechanic and directly translates into damage. No point in upgrading damage stat, especially by such a low number which was 3% per upgrade. Either up that number or scrap the upgrade completely (I'd say scrap it and add more locomotion mechanics, like jump power or grip - to climb the walls). HP upgrade is also kindof 'eh', since you could be upgrading HP and damage automatically on levelUp or simply provide alternative ways to heal through the slots.
Some nerfs to the flail should be taken, since it is the most reliable damage dealing weapon in the game, or to create alternative one-shotters. My final build is as follows:
Whilst not the most stable for climbing/parkouring, it is the most efficient damage dealing combo I could come up with - legitimately killed the boss in 30 seconds or less on level 9 spinning (I regret uprading 1 level in HP so I could see max lvl spinning).
Hopefully you win, or otherwise continue developing this game, since I'd gladly pay for an extended version anytime.
Really fun!! Love it!!
That is one heck of a great game! Fighting and spinning and collecting and spinning all the way! Awesome idea, great execution :D
This is currently my favorite game in the jam! It is really nice and enjoyable to play. The art style is fantastic and gives the game such a unique feel. Also, the addition of objects at the end of the wheel was a brilliant idea it made the game incredible!
this game is fire, and i am weirdly good at it. i honestly would love if this was an entire finished souls-like game
Solid mechanic. Nice game overall.
As was mentioned previously the beginning of the game was actually way harder than the end, because with all arms equipped, you did not need to aim really, which i think could be one of the skill expressions in this game.
Though, i also liked the aspect where certain apendages would need to be carefully attached as otherwise you would have a harder time climbing the hills.
Since there was no shop (or i missed it), it seems one is better of just ignoring the minor enemies and run past them as fast as possible.
I wonder if this could work even better in purely puzzlegame, without enemies like that, or maybe only the boss fights, but the primary mechanic being figuring out how to combine the correct tools correctly, to be able to perform the required maneuver.
Pretty frustrating trying to land a decent hit sometimes but overall pretty fun and really funny. Wish I found the flail thing from the GIF though, that looks fun haha.
Awesome job! Music is perfect, arrow sound effects made chuckle. :) Really fun to play and I'm sure I'll be back for more.
Enjoyed it a lot, beat the boss in 11 minutes, though I skipped the first one because I couldn't reliably hit him with just a sword.
Wow, that's an amazing game. It’s really impressive that you were able to make multiple boss fights in such a short amount of time. It feels very polished and fun. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to hit a single enemy, but the overall feeling was great!
Very Interesting game
Great music, overall art is decent; The cover art is 🔥 though
This game is quite fun with straightforward progression I was quite clueless on how to kill enemy since I kept missing the hits early on but managed to get the hang of it while beating the first farmer boss.
Multiples weapons with varied sizes add quite a challenge to the game and allow quite interesting combination to go through some narrow paths, enemy variants are quite unique, those 2 bosses have interesting concept and attack patterns too that make it feel like it finish too soon the moment I beaten the second boss and realized the game ended😭
Quite a good 20 minute run.
Keep up the good work!
One of the most enjoyable games in this game jam for me, (even though I suck at it xD). The concept is really fun and with more polish to the artstyle, balancing (I thought that the later enemies like blacksmiths and knight were too strong and were hitting me from so far that I could hit them) it would be so PEAK
i love this, i like the art tho it can be improved. when will the full game come out? jk. good job!
holy peak
