Good job, really interesting concept!

For the moment, I passed level 1 and 2, but will come back later to beat the rest.

I am bad at 3D platforms, but I think that even if I wasn't, the game could enjoy some easier challenge regarding that: it put your core mechanic, the spinning gear, in the shade.
To make it a little bit more forgiving, a few suggestions:
- add a Coyote time to your jump
- make the rotating platforms move step by step, with a little pause between each
- make platform mechanics appear gradually, and not all since level 1

Camera-wise, would love a zoomed out one when spinning gears, to make more sense of what you have to do (or just what you do. Had a hard time to understand the wall was opening in level 2).
And maybe make platforms between you and the camera transparent instead of moving the camera, would make it way smoother

On another note, your game could work well as an asymmetric 2 players coop game too, where one sees the entire level, and has to help the other by giving them instruction (like "try spinning this gear... OH IT CLEARS THE PATH where you were locked before!!"), and maybe interact in some ways with the machine (stop this rotating gear for a bit, deactivate this trap...)

Oh, and was pleasently surprised by the changing music between levels

You have a solid concept that deserves to be made a full game, if you want to continue working on it, congrats!

Thanks a bunch for playing and giving me this super helpful feedback! I actually might turn it into a full game, but I don’t really know yet. Reading this has introduced concepts I didn’t even think about yet, so thanks! I’m glad you liked the music too!

Really good! We had the same idea, but executed in different waysss, so funny! I really liked the 3D and the controls were very fluid. Congrats to the team!

Developer

Thanks! I made it myself, but I actually tried to form a team, but it didn’t work, so a day was wasted lol, but I’ll try your game out!

Really nice idea with the theme that you have. This could definitely become a full on game that has a bunch more content based on this mechanic. Nice job, though I would have liked a bit of mouse sensitivity support.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! You know, making it a full game wouldn’t be too much of a hassle now that I think about it, idk though, but if I do, I’ll definitely add more accessibility settings.

Submitted(+1)

I like the gear-spinning mechanic and how it changes the path through the level. The visuals and music fit the clockwork theme really well too. The camera can be a bit hard to work with at times, especially when trying to figure out where to go, but overall this is a cool and polished game. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, bro! Yea ive been getting a lot on the camera, and I actually agree lol. In development, I wanted the perspective to be professional in a way, but the way I did it made the camera have to be placed far away from the player, which collided with a lot of obstacles.

Really cool mechanic! I like how you give the player so much control over the level, there's lots of rooms for secrets and such depending on how you turn the gears! In the future, I think it would be nice to have zoom feature, where you could zoom out the camera and see more of the level. There were times when I wanted to look more above and in front of me, but the camera was restricting so I couldn't get a grasp on where I was in the level.

In level 1, there was quite a lot of platforming and different mechanics like rotating platforms and spikes? I think you could introduce these mechanics more gradually, and putting a lot more emphasis on your core mechanic (spinning the gears). Overall, I think you could use the spinning gears mechanic more often in the levels since I would say it's the most interesting mechanic here!

Otherwise, you have a lot of good stuff here! The art looks really good and the movement feels pretty nice. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I actually really like the idea of zooming out! I should have thought of that before!

Oh no! I wanna play this game but the control is very unintuitive. I'm using an Xbox controller and the menu only can be navigated with mouse controls (and now I'm dual weilding Controller on my left and mouse on my right).  I actually tried using Keyboard and somehow, moving forward rotates the camera to the character's feet! Left and Right D-pad moves the camera up and down instead of Up and Down D-Pad. Could have been better using the Right stick (using triggers to move camera left and right is ok imo). The screenshots looks so cool but now I can't pass the first level because of this... 🥀

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for playing my game! Just to debug, did you set the camera mode to controller or keyboard? or did it still not work even when setting one of those options?

Submitted

I don't see the camera mode in the Settings. I open it up and it only have key bindings for both Controller and Keyboard.

Developer(+1)

These are the buttons to press to change the camera modes. There is no button that changes keybinds. The controller and keyboard should work regardless if these buttons are pressed. So, for example, when a player pressed the “Controller Cam” button, when playing the game on a controller, the controller camera should be enabled instead of a keyboard and mouse camera, unless it’s not working like i entended it to. Sorry for any complications.

Submitted(+1)

I'll try again and maybe it works out this time. Usually bindings are auto switched for modern games so I got so used to it.

Developer

Ok, so when I played the game again, I think I noticed the issue you’re having with the game. When I pressed the controller cam and played level1, the keyboard worked but not the controller, but the controller could move the camera, so I went back to the settings, pressed the same button again, and it worked.

I see. So it is a bug.

Developer(+1)

Yep

I really liked how the music had a mechanical, gear-themed vibe. The mechanic where you spin gears to change the path was fun, too! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch!

Cool game! I enjoyed what I played but stopped part way into level 2 after getting lost. I didn't want to keep running back to where I was every death and kept missing platforms.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Looking back at it now, I should have made it a little mor obvious where your supposed to go, but I just didnt really feel like adding extra steps so late in the jam lol so ill consider doing that in the future.

Submitted(+1)

A great platformer! It was really fun, and the spinning mechanic works really well. The only thing I found was that the camera felt a bit too sensitive. I think adjusting that would improve the experience a lot. Congratulations on the game!

Developer

Thanks! I’m not entirely sure I can still change the game file and update it since the jam is over and in the ratings phase, but in my future games, I’ll add that feature.

Platforming is really cool. I like the vibe of the game as well. Slight camera adjustment but rest is all cool!

Developer

Thanks! Yea ive been getting a lot of feedback on the camera which is understandable lol but im glad you enjoyed it overall!

The game has a charming style to it and it's pretty polished overall.

My 2 points for improvement:

1. The camera angle is a little problematic when the player stands in tight areas.

2. Might be a skill issue but I think the levels need a clearer indication for the direction to go and what to do, I felt a little lost there

Overall, good job!

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing! Yeah, my original plan for some of the levels was to actually make subtle indications on where to go, but I just didn’t have enough time, and honestly, I slacked around a bit trying to just get the game done😅

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun and I like the concept. Unfortunately, I suck at 3D platformers and having to constantly fight the camera doesn't really help. I realize making a good 3D camera in such a short time is a bit too much to ask, though.

Developer

Yea, I totally understand the camera stuff lol, it was a matter of level design so it was a mistake on my part, but thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool little platformer, loved the visuals and the audio.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks!

Love the concept of a little guy spinning on gears, the camera blur and camera angle make it a bit hard to see what you need to do at times though. Would love a button that gives me a top down view.

Developer

Yea I should’ve toned it down a little😅 but thanks for playing! I’ll try your game out now
