The map shifting was very cool. When the map shifts when you’re running from golems it makes for some cool moments. Is very easy to get lost in the map unfortunately, an arrow/compass or something would help a lot. It’d also be nice if you could sprint. Overall though it was interesting. For your first game good job!
Really great take on the theme. The minimal sound effects lead to a light horror vibe, which is cool. I don't know if this was planned or emergent, but just as I was about to grab the third orb, the floor shifted and I was sent sailing away. All I could do was watch the orb fade into the distance and yell, "Nooooo!" Good times.
Thanks for playing! And yes, that was the hope - a limited time on each wall! To be honest, I didn't have enough time to implement a smart system for triggers near the player, but in my playtesting, the randomness added to the feel.
Great job! My first game looks much much simpler in design. Congrats on participating and submitting your first game, it must be exciting, for me it also is! Sad that my pc is slow so i was lagging, but i was able to experience the atmosphere, prison guards look cool an scary when they come close, you have a nice beginning, and you will be able to use this knowledge to improve even more, good luck!
Thanks! And likewise - I enjoyed your game. Best of luck to you as well.
Very cool for your first game. you should try mine. its my first too.
You got the arcane feel of the prison down quite nicely for such simple geometry and shading.
The lighting and camera are a bit too confusing at times, however, and I often need a few seconds to look down to determine which direction I am actually facing.
The darkness also sometimes prevented me from seeing anything, which also diminished the constantly shifting maze aspect of the game (which is certainly an interesting idea) a bit.
Thanks for playing! I wanted to give a horror / flashlight only feel for the last section, but I can see why it would be disorienting. In retrospect, I should've turned off most the lights instead of all the lights.
