does this count as a strategy game ? I think there are strategy elements.

I don't really like comparing games but I feel like this is a really nice twist on buckshot roulette maybe adding a bit more of enemy variety that have weights to what they are more likely to do or just leaning into a party game nature would add to the game (If you are planning to continue working on this that is)

The rounds did feel a bit long though especially with the lack of options in the shop but that's not a big element anyways

I liked the robot's model and color pallet, fun game.

Awesome game, the only critique i can do is that in my opinion the round is too long, i would prefer there were shorter round, maybe in a group of "sets of round" and upping the stakes each round

Developer(+1)

We did have some debate about having one long round or multiple rounds with "reloads" in-between! I vaguely recall that we were pretty far into the jam and were avoiding needing to add more to the gameplay loop by that point, though. Thanks for the feedback!

This game is awesome! The spinning wheel being in the players control to time it correctly was a great choice. Makes it more engaging and satisfying to play. The art is awesome, I love the ai's design. I would say there are a couple things needed.  Adding more umph to the gunshots and the effects that happen and making the ai's actions more obvious for first time players. I was confused at what exactly was happening on my first playthrough but about halfway through I got a feel for it. Great game overall. Don't stop making games!

Developer

There's certainly more room for polish and giving the shots/effects more weight, yeah. Thanks for the feedback!

AMAZING GAME! We love how the game's rules stay consistent no matter who you're shooting, what a well thought out mechanic. Seriously, good job.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! I pushed for the AI to play fairly by needing to pay to shoot you and to have the same effects on its shots as the player would. The player has the advantage of being able to visually time their shots, and the AI equally has the advantage in being able to disrupt your timing/visuals, but otherwise I think we nailed the goal of putting you both on the same playing field.

Nice use of the theme, I was killed tho...  Still, the game was fun and really interesting. Nice job!

Developer

Espy and I really tried to tune the AI to make it a worthwhile challenge without being too punishing, and it sounds like we hit the mark pretty well. Thank you for the feedback!

A very unusual and original choice of visual style. It turned out simply superb!

I didn't immediately understand how the game worked (but in general, like in all games), I didn't immediately understand the effects of the different icons, and for a long time I struggled with the strategy for winning.

But once I figured it out, it was a truly engaging gaming experience.

10/10!

I'm sure Ed and Achi will really appreciate your kind words about the visuals. We definitely tried our best to have a unique (if a bit unorthodox) take on visuals and mechanics centered around the jam's theme, and I think it worked out well for everyone involved. Thanks for the feedback!

One of the few games in the jam that I've see that uses a roulette and it feels like I'm in control of it and Its not just random results. Very nice and cool concept with amazing art, Ui and visuals. Great work!

Developer

It took a lot of deliberation to come to a design at the start, but Espy was on top of the spinning reels visual and the controls from the very first day- it was such a great design. Thanks for the feedback!

I really liked how the spinning mechanic was included in the game. The visuals also look really good. I had some difficulty understanding how the game works but got it after a few rounds. Overall a very good gmae.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback!

Very fun game that looks and feels very polished! Amazing artwork + animations and amazing gameplay! I love the effects on the spinning wheels that make it harder to get the effect you want!  Great work :)

Developer(+1)

Our other coder Espy will be happy to hear about the effects- they worked hard on getting them to work and feel challenging, and it certainly added a much-needed twist. Thanks for the feedback!

Very fun game! I didn't quite get it at first, but after playing one full game it made a lot more sense. My first match the AI didn't deal any damage to itself the entire game, which was quite unexpected, though my second game was much more fair so it was probably just bad RNG on my end. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I worked pretty hard to make a convincing AI- when we started out, it had a bad habit of 3-skulling itself to death really quickly and making the game too easy, and just as likely to 3-skull you to death before you could even retaliate- and for free, at that. Made it play fair and spend money, and gave it some tools to play a little better in the end. Glad you enjoyed it!

This is a really fun concept and well polished game ! Took me some time to figure out how to play, but that was on me for not reading properly. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite fun. I'd see this as a balatro competitor with more items in the shop, more modifiers etc.. Congrats!

Developer

We've heard a few times now that people would want to see more shop purchases, effects/modifiers, and the like- it's definitely worth considering after the jam passes. Thanks for the feedback!

First thing I noticed was how polished the game is, good job! The fist playthrough felt desperate, but the second I was able to win. Hitting three chips or three skulls when shooting opponent is super satisfying. The spin evens seemed out of nowhere though, and I didn't feel I had warning about the delayed selection. I normally just assume I missed something, but if I did, I could maybe be more apparent. Very cool game!

Developer

The events that the AI forces on you show up as notifications on the right-hand side of the screen, but they can be a bit hard to notice, yeah. Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

What a good game, took me a few tries to beat it but it was really enjoyable! I did notice a bug at one point where the game result text(if you lost or win) was a bit off screen on the left side. Would be cool to have a bit more option in the shop and for us to also be able to modify the wheel for the AI. Good submission!

Developer(+2)

Been bug hunting today- this one was already addressed before the submission deadline, but seems to have slipped through. Should be fixed in the most recent build. Thanks for the feedback!

Developer(+1)

You are now on my favourite person list

The music is very fitting to the tense feel of the game.

I do wish some of the "events" (the reels having a delay; the reels automatically stopping after a certain amount of time) have a better indicator, though, as the timer on the bottom right is a bit difficult to notice when you don't know about them (since during my first playthrough, I spent most of the time focusing on the reels in the centre).

Developer(+1)

That's a pretty fair point about the UI- we had some internal deliberation about how to improve the effect UI visibility, but our changes didn't make the cut before the deadline. Thanks for the feedback!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Music composer here, I am really glad to hear that you find the soundtrack fitting! It really warms my soul.

The concept of this game is really cool and interesting! Reminds me a bit of buckshot roulette.

Developer

Thank you! Our original idea started as something slightly different, but the inspiration is certainly there.

Submitted(+2)

The art is really nice, even the UI is good looking! Great job! 💚

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Our artists did a fantastic job. And as the guy that focused hard on the UI layout the last couple days, a special thank-you from yours truly!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I really worked a lot on the character design and UI pixel art, and it is really nice to hear that someone  enjoyed looking at those!

Submitted(+2)

I got a pretty heavy rougelite feel while playing the game and I really enjoyed that! Great work to all of you!

Developer

Oh, now there's an idea. Personally I swear off anything even rogue-adjacent for shorter game jams, but a broader shop system and effects from the AI would be really cool. Thanks for the feedback!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

The development process was absolutely magnificent! We got four talented guys in a team, and I am proud that I could play major role in the game's creation! (We all did)

Developer(+1)

It was an immense pleasure to be a part of this team- easily the best game jam I've had on and off Itch, period.
