I love the vibe of this game! All the little cat creatures are cute and mysterious, and everything has a bit of a surreal feel to it since it's mostly all blue. I progressed enough to find all the sticks and hand them to the green cat. The spinning doesn't work smoothly enough to complete the stick mini-game within 15 seconds, so I gave that up after a few tries. I'm not sure what the eyes on the wall/gate are about, but I was able to spin destroy/pick up (I donno which action got applied there) the one on the wall near the first cat, but not the one on the gate near the purple cat. No matter how many spin angles I tried the second one wouldn't get interacted with (and I was able to walk right through the gate as if it wasn't there, so this might be the reason). Second, the brown gates you spin-break all regenerate as soon as you leave the area and come back. This, combined with a slight tediousness of the spin mechanic, kinda discouraged me from going back to an area to try again (the area with the purple cat and the brown gates in the maze, to be specific, but this would apply to any area). With these fixes though, I think this game could really be something special! I quite liked what I played!!
Also I concur with grumpyCanine that the in-game kitty would make for a very appealing cover. The current cover doesn't do your game's beautiful art justice! Seeing the screenshots is what made me decide to try it, after all.
I loved loved the visuals! Vibe was also spot on. I was very curious about how it would progress. I like that it jumped into the game immediately after the intro and there was a bit of a mystery about where we are.
I hit the eye on the wall and could not figure out what to do after that though. I think an interact icon appearing when a gate/item is interactable would have helped give some player feedback, or little pop-up hints if the player hasn't interacted with the right thing after a while. Also the in-game artwork is great and I think featuring it with the kitty on the cover image would be way better than the current sketchy one.
Love the art style and world! The vibes are great. The spinning can be a little bit janky, but I had fun! :)
Thank you for playing!!!!!!
Sadly, couldn't figure out how to progress, much like what Syggy and Valeriy have said. I also agree with what Syggy said about the menu sounds, they're really cool, but can really pull you out of immersion. Love love love the visuals they're absolutely wonderful! Feels so warm and comforting combined with the music.
I absolutely LOVE the visuals and music!!!! But much like Valeriy stated in a previous comment, I was unable to progress past the blue gate :<
Small little sound feedback: Menu sounds being melodic are fun don't get me wrong! I played with the idea too a couple times! But consider either meshing it with the key of the BGM or rather keeping it non-tonal to add complimentary texture to the sound world. Otherwise it can get a little overbearing. It's not too serious but something to consider! I learned that when the SFX and music "jell," it really shines! :>
I understand the time needed to fully integrate the ideas may not have been ideal but that's how game jams go I suppose. Still very much adored the stylization and theme you were going for! So vibrant and warming! :>
Thank you for the sound advice I will look into it next time!! I'm not sure if the blue gate is a tech issue, I played the build and it worked but you just gotta hit the eye on the wall :D (maybe didnt explain it too well in the game) Thanks for playing anyway!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the visuals!
Lovely game! I really enjoyed the visuals, the colors, the shading - all worked to create a nice vhimsical atmosphere. Unfortunately, I think game has some technical issues. I was unable to progress past the blue gate and also when I pressed pause the game just froze on me for some reason (
