Completed the game; it was super fun. It's just that it had very little to do with the theme, honestly. and i think more bullets wouldve been handy!

As others pointed out, my only complaint was there wasn't enough ammo. It's already challenging enough that you get to do the really fun reload system, but other than that I don't see the value of limited ammo around the map. This is a really fun game, though!

Really cool gameplay! I like how the reload incorporates the spinning. Simple to do with on-time clicks, but adds to the stress when you wind up in a room with a lot of baddies. Only complaint: ammo felt a bit too scarce. But, I'm also not the best at shooters lol. Maybe add a noob mode that has some more ammo scattered around for someone like me? Oh, and something about the lil armadillo roll feels so right. Not sure what it is, but it's great!

This was pretty fun! The combat I think was a bit too intense for me and I found myself dying before I could really fight back. I just don't like shooters at all though so take that with a grain of salt. The sound design was really cute!!

an absolutely hog-wild experience that is incredibly well polished and in-depth for a game developed in only seven days. The artstyle is incredible, especially in the varitey between the title screen, opening comic, and main game. Great job!!

I think I just got post-war trauma from pigs... but I had a blast! The game is genuinely awesome, and using the mechanic to reload your weapon is such a great idea.

The only thing I'm not sure about is what happens if you somehow run out of all the ammo the game gives you. I finished with exactly the amount I needed, so I guess it's really well balanced!

Masterpiece. Great job! :D

AAAH I CAN;T BELIEVE I DIDN'T PLAY THIS EARLIER!

This gave me a memmory of a game I used to play ages ago that I can't remember the name of but you perfectly captured that style! Of the 2d sprites in a 3d world. It even had pig enemies! (if you know of an old game in this style that had pig enemies let me know cuz I wanna try that game again :P)

You absolutely nailed the recource balancing! I was constantly on my toes looking for health and ammo and every time there was juuust enough to get by as long as I looked carefully, going back for that green door was a lifesaver! Very well designed! In the end I made it through with just a sliver of health left!

The spinning reloading mechanic is clever too! A bit stressfull in tight situations but that just adds to the excitement! Cuz if it's too easy to reload you can just rapid fire shoot and kill everyone so it works out perfectly! Also the dash worked out great, it made it really quick to backtrack placed but you couldn't actually dash past enemies very easily so it wasn't a get out of jail free card.

Brilliant game! I loved this!

What an incredible game. The way you implemented the spin mechanic is probably one of my favorite interpretations of the theme! It made me feel genuinely nervous (which is very fitting). Even though I'm not a big shooter player, I really enjoyed the game a lot. At times, it almost felt like I was playing a survival horror game, because resources are so limited and so easy to waste, which made the experience even more fun for me personally. Great, great game!

Love the reload on this one! Such a cool use of the spin, and really satisfying when I got it right.

It's definitely challenging with the number of bullets available and needed to take down the enemy. Reminds me of my Resident Evil playthroughs - it'll take a while for me to figure out how to get through each section, but it's really enticing to keep playing. I also think the old FPS style works really well for a game jam, and I love the comic story up front.

Definitely my favorite reload system of the (few) shooting games I've played in the jam. Great job!

This is fun! A really interesting take on the theme, and I enjoyed the revolver mechanic itself. It probably took about 30 seconds of messing around smashing buttons and tabbing out to the description for it to click, but I would say it was intuitive enough for most people.

I was really happy to see that you integrated the reloading mechanic with a boss fight who has more health than can be removed with a 6 rounds. I would have liked a melee attack, I don't think it would disrupt or change the gameplay too much, but it was probably the only thing that I felt was truly missing. I was sort of expecting to be able to crouch behind the sandbags / barriers to reload safely from the ranged enemies. However the levels are designed such that I didn't actually need to reload under fire until the very end.

The art is nice and consistent, and the billboarding works for me, and I felt that the music and sfx fit into the whole vibe well.

I thought the level was designed well too, I was able to navigate fine as I just hugged the right hand wall all the way around the level to ensure I didn't miss anything, however some additional clutter wouldn't have been a miss to help players remember where they were if navigating a little more aimlessly.

Overall, a really fun entry, I think the difficulty is about right for a jam game, as is the length; not to long but just enough to cut my teeth on. Thank you!

I struggled quite a bit at first, but I managed to clear it! (At that point, I hadn’t realized headshots were possible, so I cleared it while dodging some of the enemies.) Once I realized I could land headshots, I played through it again; I didn’t finish with full health, but I did manage to clear it with 36 rounds remaining (6 in the gun and 30 in reserve)! This game is really fun!

I don't think I have ever finished with that many rounds 😭 congrats and thank you so much for playing !

Now noone can say there's not enough bullets >:] /j

I really like the hand-drawn cartoons and visuals! I always find the 2D-3D mix games super cool. Also love the armadillo aesthetic of this game. This is truly an armadillo-type game.
Also, the shooting and reload feels really really nice. Like super satisfying and also perfectly stressful to resource-manage while evading

Armadillo/10

Nice game, so creative to use the spinning mechanic for the reload!

And there are headshots, nice feature :)

Congratulations on your game!

This game was awesome! I really like the reload mechanic and doom style visuals.  My only criticism is that navigating around can be a bit confusing due to the areas looking very similar, and the key system necessitating backtracking through these confusing environments, but the game is short enough that it doesn't become a big problem. Overall this was amazing!

Wow, this was actually a ton of fun! I had to try more than once since I thought I had to kill all hogs, but there is not enough ammo for them all, so I had to choose my battles. Honestly the only things I want to see updated are for the game to take an even darker tone (both visually and literally), and for there to be some kind of way to attack in melee or at least push back enemies, since I got cornered twice and instantly died with no way out.

its a nice little game

One of the best FPS/Third person shooter style games that I have seen all jam, I do agree with the previous commenter that a little more feedback on headshots would be useful, but other than that I think it was really good. Maybe make it a bit easier to see what weapon the enemy is holding, as i found that with the fog sometimes I couldn't tell if the enemy had a gun or just a shovel. Amazing game though and you should be proud of what you have created!!!!

one of the best games I've played today

the mechanics are simple but really fun, and the music is great, though a bit loud. a volume slider would be a nice addition -didn't want to mute it entirely-

also I didn't realize headshots were possible until I tried going for them them later on, so imo adding headshot sound effects and visual feedback would make them satisfying and better

overall, 10/10 I hope I can make a game like this someday!

A headshot sound is a great idea I'm surprised  I didn't think of that! Thanks for playing and the kind words!

Definitely giving strong Doom vibes, lots of fun! It definitely took me some trial and error to figure out the reload mechanic, but it's honestly really satisfying and adds a unique bit of complexity to what would otherwise be a straightforward shooter. Could definitely be some opportunities to add challenges throughout that are tailored to your specific method of reloading.

Doom-like but with a really cool reload mechanic. Timing the sliding of shells in under stress while 30-50 feral hogs charge into the trenches at you is nail-bitingly well done.

It feels like a solid shooter, with the headshot mechanics meaning pacing your shots is rewarding - though you quickly run out of ammo, turning it into a unique blend of survival horror and action.

This game really does feel like doom - backtracking, finding keys, navigating the level to progress and such. I could see this becoming a really awesome boomer shooter style of game, though the third-person camera with the pixel art billboarding feels a bit odd.

I could see a refined version of the reload system where you have more ammo available, but the reload window for sliding shells in is a little tighter - and if you fail to meet it, the shell instead falls to the ground to be picked up. With less ammo scarcity this could recreate those nail-biting stressful moments of having to reload under pressure, with minor punishment in the form of a lost attempt - one that you'd have to wait for the smoke to clear before you go to remedy by picking up your dropped casings. Or different weapons having similarly unique reload mechanics - a shotgun you have to manually click and drag to pump every shell, etc.

This could be a really fun project if expanded on, but stands well on it's own two feet as it is.

I hope armydillo gets the support back home that he needs.
