A little bit of a slow burn. I got past the first fight. Nice effects but the art was kinda all over the place, with sprites at a bunch of different scales. Difference between light and heavy attack is kinda not obvious.

Nice art! Sadly the Web-version was completely unreadable. :( I hoped the settings included the ability to disable the CTR-effect which would've helped it, I think! :D

I see from the comments however and the screenshot that you guys probably have a diamond here. It's a shame it was so difficult to read.

From what I've been able to see though, truly amazing art. So well done in a game jam context! <3 Good work!

Developer

Hey! Thanks so much for the support! Unfortunately, the web version was a last-minute addition, so we didn't have enough time to polish it properly. That said, you can disable the CRT effect in the options menu!

Combat is a really good implementation of the spin to win theme! Visuals are amazing too

Thank you Verxc <3 <3

Pretty cool idea so far, I'm excited to see where you guys go with this! I don't know if anyone else found this, but standing above the small moving snails here causes the player to move with them like a moving platform.

Developer

Thank you Emerald Storm! About the snails, this is the FAVORITE thing about that room for my GF, she’s was thinking if anyone will notice too haha!

Oh, haha, okay cool! It felt like a bug of some kind, so I figured I’d point it out just in case

Super awesome art in this game! I would've loved the option to fullscreen this on web, could help with the readability on some  things.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback Tomato! Sorry about the web inconvenient in our game, in fact you can play it in fullscreen, is just that the setting is on options menu, and cuz of the CRT it’s kinda hard to read, sorry mate, and thank you for the feedback <3

This game is amazing!! The visuals are super well made, I especially love the cutscenes and the character portraits! The spinning mechanic and turn-based combat are both very creative and implemented well. I would totally love to see this as a full game!

Some criticisms I have: The health potions seem pointless, as the enemy immediately damages you for the same amount as they heal after you use them. There also didn't seem to be any reason to perform light attacks, since the heavy attacks deal the most damage with no setbacks.

Overall I really enjoyed playing! Great work!!

Developer

Thank you for the honest feedback, this is very important! In the future, we will probably rebuild the game from the ground-up with your feedback in mind <3

Fantastic art, the style of the cutscenes is easily some of the best I've seen in the jam so far. Though the game could really use a lot more sound and mechanical interest. The music is pretty good but the game is very quiet when it comes to walkings, hitting, chasing options and stuff like that. Mechanically this entry is sadly a little rudimentary, I really enjoyed the spinning system but I couldn't tell what the difference between a light and heavy attack was and the potions can't really out-heal the bosses damage. If you where to continue development, I'd say either go all in on the spin that increases your attack or go all in on the rpg elements and give choosing other options on your turn a greater purpose. A lot more weight could also be places on the weapon that the bottle gives you. It seems at this point all it changes is the animation that plays. Overall a good entry and again the art is absolutely a standout. I hope you guys participate in the other big jams coming up!

i agree with what Thefelilinespacepirate said there⬆️

i really liked the overall mood and univers of the game, the rat interaction made me chuckled.
would have love to stay in this world for longer. very nice entry yall, ggs

Thank you so much for the honest review. I agree with everything you said. We had some trouble pivoting our idea, which led to a less polished game. Combat mechanic was one of the last things we had time to tweak, so it didn't turn out great and lacks of real challenge. As for the sound design, we were lucky to get boss fight music, but the rest of the game is missing audio: walking sounds, menu interactions, attacks, ambient sfx, and stuff. We are lucky developers to have had so many talented artists working on this project.

Again, thank you so much for the honest feedback. We really appreciate it <3

Really impressive stuff, gorgeous art! I do love the CRT filter but it was quite hard to read text with it on. I'd love to see this continue into a full game

Developer

Ty for the feedback <3 I was responsible for the messy CRT effect haha! I love those shaders, but I really nedded to tweak it down a little. Fortunately, you can disable the CRT effect in the options menu, I thougth some people would not like it.

Really impressive world you've created here! Art work is phenomenal.

Developer(+1)

Ty Bates! We had so much luck fiding really talented artists. They're amazing <3

Great game! I dont understand much of making games but I think it has potential, the art is very cool and the music is really good. I would like to play other games like this one and I hope you continue creating nice games!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the support!! <3

This is a really cool game ! The execution is great on your concept and I'd love to see it expended in the future. I got a bit confused on why I would ever use the light attack, but that might be on me. Otherwise, congrats on the team because that is a well polished game ! This is not for the rating of the game, but you should definitly put some time on the Itch Io page, your game deserves a good presentation and it would sucks if people missed it because of it !

Developer

Hey!! Thanks for the positive review! We put a lot of work into this, and we're really glad you enjoyed it! We definitely could've used some more polish and better balancing for the battle system, but we really ran out of time, so we had to go with what we had. We're working on improving the page right now :D thanks for the advice! <3

You guys can be proud, that’s a great game ! I’ll follow the development of the page because that’s definitely something I could play on my free time. Congrats !

Developer

Thanks again!! And by the way, the light attack deals a little less damage, but the strength meter spins slightly slower, so it's easier to hit the higher multipliers! We had plans to develop the system much further, but that wouldn't be possible within the jam period D:
