I like the 2.5D art style and the audio is fairly enjoyable. The hammer slam wouldn't work half the time and the boss fight with the pirate was a bit glitchy but a very good attempt at a game jam. :)

Overall, the experience is pretty good, it's just that the impact feeling is average.

Developer

thank you for trying it out. a lot more content was planned. we under estimated the time needed to implement it however.

very unique artstyle and angle, the space theme and floaty jumps do fit well and spinning is indeed useful for attack.

This game was pretty cool. The music was nice, the sound effects could have used a bit of work, it would have been great to have a sound effect for hitting enemies. I like the 2.5d artstyle, though the camera was definitely a bit funky at times. The choice so add a stamina bar for attacks was strange. It didn't really add anything to the gameplay and just stopped me from attacking sometimes. I often got hit when hitting enemies due to the attack having zero knockback and locking me in place. The spin mechanic was fun to play with, I found that it keeps my vertical velocity when I use it so I could use it to jump higher. After beating the game the first time I went through and played it again with just the spin, using the height from it to reach the boss without the double jump. The roll was fun to use, especially in combination with the upwards movement from the spin. I didn't really find myself using the double jump all that much because I was using the spin upwards movement instead. I liked how the boss's attacks were telegraphed clearly, it was fun to fight once I learned to read it. I wish there was more of an incentive to fight enemies, as I just avoided them instead of fighting them. Some way to heal other than dying would be nice too. Overall, great work with this game, I had a lot of fun playing!

Developer

glade you had fun and thank you for trying it and for the great detailed feedback

The game is pretty straightforward overall, though the camera did sort of work against me at times. It also took me a little longer than I probably should have to get where I needed to go due to there being no indicators. Finally, the pirate boss was fun enough, however I did encounter an issue where he was partially stuck through the wall and couldn't attack me. All-in-all, the game is still playable and indeed, very serious

Developer

Totally noted on the camera. it seems to be a pain point for a lot of tester.
we had planned for a lot more. which turned out no where near the scope of the project.
a bit of story telling elements is 100%  needed to give the players a reason to explore and find the goal
very serious feedback as well. thank you for playing.

The 2.5D visuals and the audio (SFX and music) are all great. The gameplay did feel a bit stale though, as I realized I could and should just dodge all the enemies. Also, on my second attempt the space pirate partially clipped into the wall and got stuck. He couldn't hit me so I just stood there and used him as a punching bag til he died. Great work overall!

Developer

thank you for trying it out. you are totally right on the gameplay being stale. we had plans for more levels and more types of mobs. sadly didn't get enough time for it. the camera seem to be an issue for a lot of people I have to think this over. a 2D camera set up doesn't seem to work with a 3d world. also Godot collision system is the pain of my existence haha. the stab attack on the boss kept getting him stuck or clipping out of the map.
there is room to improve here for sure.

Least serious game I've played so far (I think that's a good thing). The 2d/3d effect is pretty cool, although the graphics do kind of clash. The camera sway also took a little to get used to, but it plays into the floaty spacey theme well.

thanks for trying it out.
sadly the artist we planned this with couldn't help so we had to use pretty much free assets on everything.
would have loved to take more advantage of the depth as well.
good feedback on the camera tho.
Metroidvania cameras clash with 3d a bit too much I will have to think of something here.
