I'm not totally sure I understood this one but it was cool nonetheless! I couldn't really figure out where to get scrap (I think you might be able to get it from the computers and drones that wander around the overworld, but I was never able to kill one because the moment I started shooting at one I would get dogpiled by every other enemy at once haha). I tried fighting the boss without getting any upgrades and the first phase went by without me taking any damage, but during the second phase I would try to peak after the laser fired and it seemed like it wouldn't do any damage anymore, but every time I did I still took damage. I really, really dig the concept however, and the world looks really pretty. I like the subtle VHS effect. The sound design was also really nice. Great job!
Super cool concept for the game jam! The combat was fun and vibe is there! I think the sound design being improved can aid this game to be even stronger!
i jumped down to earth and saw all the galaxy in its beauty. stars flew past me as my arms were shaking more and more. i touched one and it said that once it was a human too, spinning around the time. i felt a slight glow in my core and closed my eyes. when i opened them i saw
This is making my head spin, but it's so cool!
I liked the aethestic very much and the vibe of the game. The seetings of it are really good. I liked how the menu has a lot of things, it does gives a full release version vibe.
The game loop is fun and unique, with the spin first to them attack and deal more damage. One thing it could went better was the dialogs. At some point I wast just clicking space over and over again without even reading and the dialogs never seemed to stop, haha. It could be toned down a bit, at least for a game jam.
Other than that, the game is pretty solid, great work!
I liked the setting and the concept overall, I do think the execution is a bit harsh. It has too much dialogue (Shouldn't be bad itself, but in a Jam people is biased to play LOTS of game, and suddenly having to read so much to understand generates friction, which is not wanted for a Jam.)
I liked the sound effects and the polish of the first person movement though sadly the gun effects were not as satisfying. I think the biggest "sin" of this game, is the gun being too weak at the start or maybe that there is too much enemies? They were so many and they needed too much shoots even at x4. For being the core loop I think a safer bet would had beem to make it the priority in development:D
Fun idea with rotating giving you more damge but i felt that it was kinda hard to aim while spinning.
I would have liked a lot more polish, and I didn't really enjoy the gameplay loop, since spinning makes aiming kinda hard, and you have to be pretty precise to actually hit something. It kinda doesn't feel like you have a goal, you just go outside and shoot things, and then come inside, to upgrade, but why? I don't even have a health bar to see how long I can stay out, I don't see how many scraps I'm getting from them, I don't even see when they're shooting at me, since the bullets are gray, and travelling kinda fast, while everything else is gray. Am I supposed to be able to dodge those bullets while spinning? I kind of agree with the last person that posted, that the scope should have been WAY smaller. It feels kind of rough to play as is.
I think you overscoped WAY to much, I understand wanting to do a narrative experience with NPCs and a story, dialogues but this is a gamejam. You only have 7 days and sometimes just 2 or 4, there is no way to make something like that in such a small time. And probably because of that it super unpolished. Just after finishing the tutorial there are so many enemies outside and takes like 4 shoots with a 4x multiplier to kill 1. Then you can´t even change the sensibility of the mouse and its super low (at least for my config). If you would have focus on the spinning and maybe instead of a story just stages/levels to complete I probably would have tried to complete it but I just couldn't bring myself to keep playing. Hope this isn't so harsh but I have experienced the same. You might want to check Samsara (I think thats the name) a game from this gamejam that has a narrative but very polished and scoped correctly
The idea is really interesting. Sometimes it felt like my multiplier disappeared a bit too quickly, but with a little more polish and a few adjustments, I think it could become a great game. Great work!
I loved the flow of combat
So 1st of all, I like the idea of rotation = power increase. But in this game is hard to pull of especially since the power increase doesnt stay long to aim correctly. Others mentioned it already, it was a tad too much dialogue at the beginning which I dont think is nesseceraly a problem unless its forced. I think if the player's interested he could talk more with npcs and all, but some (myself included sadly, are sometimes abit unpatient and want to play the game.) However I still like the core idea and the theme and setting are nicely done.
i love this idea, and although i feel the dialogue is a bit much for the average player, i found myself enjoying it.
The world you've created is so mysterious and full of character! I loved the look of the game as well. I would suggest trying to keep the introductions short and put players in play as quickly as possible. Let curiosity and environmental story telling do the work. I did really enjoy the story elements, though. Great job!
Interesting concept, but the experience was a bit too front-heavy with dialogue, which makes it take a while until you can actually play.
The concept is fun, but I got quite dizzy fighting the King lol Visuals are great and you can pet the cat :)
I really love the concept, however I feel really overwhelmed with the amount of dialog.
