I really like the concept here and the art is so cute!
But dang it's hard to earn tokens! I guess the difficulty does incentivize the use of the gambling mechanic ( I see what you did there -u- ) however, I feel like the difficulty may be a little too punishing right now. Maybe just a bit more reward in exchange for my risks would be nice; something to encourage more play.
All that to say, despite getting my arse handed to me, I had a fun time!
The artstyle and music really fit well together, I really liked them. The game felt very hard considering you have very limited turns to guess what's wrong with the robot. There is a lot going on with the items + all the tools and since the tutorial was all reading I did feel a little overwhelmed. The gambling wheel felt like an afterthought and you could just skip it entirely. These are all pretty easily solvable problems and I could tell you had a vision for this ! Great job on the game:)
The art style is really neat & cozy! I just wish that you could see what things were on the wheel, rather than the game just telling you what you landed on after it stopped spinning.
That's a good idea. I'll see if I can find a way to make that happen
cool game! but i didnt see a great use of the jam's theme
Interesting old school game. Nice graphics fitting the theme. The gameplay felt a bit random and difficult: I kept having bad effects without any tokens to buy items. Also, the tutorial is only reading, which didn't help. I wish there was subtle visual and audio cues on the robots to know which tools to pick, instead of using the scanner and trusting the random. I also think the "spin" mechanic is secondary?
Anyway, congrats for the jam!
Pretty good game. When I first saw SM gear I originally thought of something else...
Oh no! I hadn't even thought about that
Cute little game! Loved the graphics and music, but my main two critiques are:
1: The theming wasn't quite there.
2: It felt very RNG heavy deciding on what to fix, even with the Scanner. I'm not sure if you could visually see things that needed to be fixed on the sprites, but... it felt off.
Good game regardless! Great job on it!
Thanks for the feedback! It's meant to be a guessing game, and there are upgrades that give more turns per round. I definitely agree that some visual clues would be helpful
surprisingly difficult and though the theme wasnt completely there i had a fun time playing itt, would love to see more stuff addedd :P
Reminds me of the non-backlit game boy games. It is quite hard to play but I love that there is charm to this game.
Really cool game 10/10
Hi there, love the aesthetic of the game! Your robots are very cute! I think I also found a bug where I was losing HP from looking at my tools even when I didn't have them (the turn counter wouldn't decrease but my HP would.) I also felt the game was a little reliant on RNG as I got a robot with 4 problems and only 5 turns to figure it out, which seemed to be mostly luck based. Not sure if that's by design, but I'd love there to be an upgrade which makes that problem easier! But very cool game!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll take a peek at the code and see if I can fix those bugs
Cool game, love the visuals
Amazing game! I love the cute little robots and the main mechanics however, the spinning part is never required so It isn't "Spin to win"
I appreciate the compliments! I plan on adding more robot designs after the jam ends. The wheel was much more important in the original concept, but plans changed
super cute game!! I love the art and music. I managed to repair several robots without any deaths and instead of spending it on tools, I gambled and lost it all...
I still really enjoyed playing it!! but I also agree with the commenter who mentioned how the spin to win felt like an afterthought
Glad you liked it! The wheel originally had more importance, but I had to change it to improve the overall gameplay
I was in grief over the loss of my first two robots, so once I finally got payed for saving one - I gambled it. I got 2x back! So I gambled it again. I got 5 more! Long story short, I get to 44 tokens. I gamble it. I lose it all. My life savings.
Fantastic game 10/10 (but spin to win kinda feels like it was put in the game as an afterthought)
I had other plans for the wheel, but things got changed around. It's really impressive you made it to 44 tokens just from gambling!
