Very cool experience, Really enjoyed the deck building aspects & figuring what order to select my bullets. Cool game!
i mean that really was a deckbuilder with a gun. Lotta cool stuff here with all of the re-organization of bullets and stuff the bullets being shot were a bit weird though especially because i didnt really know what was being shot at the time they were being shot and ig the order in which they are shot, but still pretty cool and there is a ton of bullet stuff here too! The shop intro is also pretty cool and has some cool stuff.
Had a lot of fun to try and min - max all the bullet in the right order, loved that some bullet make the cylinder clockwise and other counterclockwise. Also the music is great, is it possible to have any tips in composing from Rockii?
icl dawg i just place notes wherever it sounds good
just make your melodies in the scale of whatever key you're using and play with the timing a bit
make melodies that compliment eachother and counter eachother (not in a dissonant way)
a secret of mine is slapping presets on instruments that they shouldnt be on, like a guitar amp on a piano or keyboard
that's really all the tips i have
Thanks, i'll try to implement multiple melodies and also the presets.
This game is a lot of fun!!! I love having to work out the best way to load the cylinder to min-max and get the results I want. Well done! Applause! I would love to see this get more development!
More development is planned, I think the idea is really cool :3
i really like the concept although the execution leaves a bit to be desired, minor things like the gun rotating on your turn would really elevate the feeling of the game. something like enemy intent would also be nice, even if it's clearly taken from slay the spire. the concept of a deckbuilder with a six shooter is endlessly cool though, and i think it could definitely evolve into something even greater with further development. also the little messages on the shop screen were pretty good, they infused a lot of whimsy into the game! awesome idea.
Finally someone mentions the shop text! I was in call with a friend and he was like "what if you made that text change every time you enter the shop like minecraft flavor text" and I was in crunch time but I did it anyway and it only took like five minutes and I love it :3
Concept is really cool, it's clear that it needs a bit more depth and it was constrained by submission time, but a lot of cool ideas can come up. The visual are simple but crisp and the pow-pow is satisfying. I think you should work a bit more on it after the jam, this is a cool idea.
Really liked this, it's a very unique take on deck builders and its almost like a puzzle game. Only thing is that in the current state it's almost always best to just play the same setup each time, so either have some bullets not show up or more unique enemy interactions. I'd really like to see this as a full game, good job!
I, too, want to see this as a full game. Wish me luck :3
i need a full version of this game, STAT! the gameplay offers a lot cool synergies on that i can easily see expanding to various different builds that can snowball as you go through the run, very cool stuff! i love how the chamber is more than just a recontextualized mana as the chamber rotation system allows you to play all your powerful bullets if you position them correctly, which is so cool and forces the player to engage with picking bullets as a "cycling" utility rather than just for the output they provide on the surface! the art and sound effects also are very fun and playful, providing a very nice stylized touch to the presentation! i think you guys are aware of most of what needs improvement from the game page description so i'll just leave it at that, but one thing that would be nice to have if ever there is an update would have some form of slay the spire like intent system to understand at least what the enemy will or is capable of doing. i noticed the later enemies were doing more than just hitting me once for 5 damage, but it was unclear what it was exactly doing and when it will do it. my first run ended because i believe i got killed by a double hit, which was the first time i encountered it. it doesn't have to exactly be an intent system, but just some way of knowing what an enemy can do (maybe you are able to see the enemy's bullets/attacks, kind of like buckshot roulette style, and they shoot one at random)? but yeah, this game rules, had a ton of fun with it! congrats on the submission!
Thank you for the detailed feedback I love getting detailed feedback
I definitely agree about knowing what the enemy can do, I'm not sure exactly how I want to implement it yet but it definitely needs something more than the enemy just doing things lol
And yeah I'm now working on a full version I had a lot of fun making this prototype :3
i saw the title and thought "is that deckbuilder with a gun ?" and it actually was, hell yeah.
nice job team, that was nice
It’s like a normal deckbuilder except you have a gun so it’s actually better
Very cool concept and art for this game, and overall the execution on those ideas is good but only requires some improvements. The UI is clean and minimal, which I think works in this game, and the shop has a cool variety of different bullet types to pick from. Some of that variety could probably have been put into the enemies though, as from what I've played, there's really only one enemy type with more health and shield. The way in which you can chain bullets together is exceptionally strong as a mechanic as it forces the player to think about the order in which they shoot more than just big magic bullet kills everything. I think the fact that the UI takes a good few seconds to load is jarring and kind of takes you out of the experience for a bit, but on the whole this game is a very unique and very intriguing deck builder, and I'd love to see what else you could come up with in the future. Good stuff :)
Yeah I definitely wanted to make more enemies, as it is they just scale and gain some abilities over time. The shop loading takes a while because otherwise it would crash the game due to me writing horrible code for jam reasons, I completely agree that it sucks lol
I am tired of waiting a second, this could be really grounds work for a roguelike especially if you add more enemy variety and maybe rework the bullets themselves also I like your art it feels fitting.
yeah i’m gonna be restarting from scratch because the code sucks and making this a much more complete experience because I love the concept
also sorry you have to wait for a second (it’s actually three) i did that because my code sucks and if i don’t do that the game crashes
Awesome game, I'm a little torn on giving feedback because I'm 99% sure there's nothing I can say that you don't already know.
Conceptually it's great. The deck builder bullets and the revolver just tie together really neatly and create a tight game loop that's really satisfying. Balance is all over the shop, you already know that, and I can attest first hand about how badly I dropped the ball on that so no more needs be said.
The art is super stylish, music is a bop and the sfx brings it all together with a cherry on top. UI is decent but lacks some polish as you've also noted already, but really doesn't detract from the experience.
It's honestly really fun, and despite small flaws, there's really nothing glaring. I had a good amount of fun playing this, thanks!
Thank you so much for the feedback, you’re right that I’m aware of most of the issues already, I’m glad you still enjoyed despite the abysmal balancing though :3
Really really fun and interesting idea. Music and sfx are great and its fun to play. Very good entry, love it!
YES YES YES YES deckbuilder is good! this is a proper deckbuilder! i really like how the bullet rules affect the way to reload that is fun and reply to the theme!
I love the bullet rotation mechanic too i think it’s so fun to figure out the optimal way to place them
this is so cool! i absolutely ADORE the gameplay and art style, the visuals and audio are so wonderful ehehe
the background music is great, you did such a good job with this:3
I’m glad you enjoyed :3
Really cool game! I love the visuals, and the overall feel of the game. I would've like to see more enemy variety. I enjoyed it a lot
Damn this was a cool idea with a great execution. Could've had more polish but I completely understand because this was a very ambitious game to make in 7 days, and you pulled it off. I played two runs until I lost and I enjoyed both of them thoroughly. Basically my only nitpick was the polish/animations, as the art and gameplay were spot on.
Also maybe check out my game :>
Yeah I would have loved to polish this up a lot. I made this in around 4 days due to work and deltarune chapter 5 getting in the way so its definitely not where I hoped it would be but I still really like the core gameplay.
Nice art! I liked this. :)
I really enjoyed this game. Love the doodle based art-styles. My only critique is that I wish there was a clearer UI design as I felt quite lost in the first level.
The strategy of this is very interesting I like this a lot you did well for the time you had!
