very cool game! the artstyle was really nice, and the idea for the gameplay is pretty unique!

the earth's population only growing by 3 billion in 600 years is gurticular tho

good job amigo!!

I dont think planet earth has been in a more unsafe pair of hands. Nevertheless, the 11 billion inhabitants of planet earth experienced 137,962 day/night cycles over the course of one year lol. Actually such a great idea and I really liked how you could see the nighttime side of the earth. Great job!

Very well made game! Here is my honest review:

Pros

  • Fun and simple to understand gameplay
  • Nice SFX
  • Various enemies and weapons
  • Tutorial forces you to do actions (place hammer). By this tutorial becomes self-explanatory. That is pretty good

Cons

  • When you play in 16:9 resolution, spaceships that appear from bottom start to shoot you offscreen before you can actually see them
  • Meteors are hard to see. You should give them better contrast
  • After mid game there is no point of money, because there is no place for weapons

My suggestions/improvements

  • Add more places to place weapons
  • Ability to remove/replace weapon
  • It would be good to see shield that would block projectile and have it's cooldown. Or you can even make that you need to buy shield on button (for example on E), but it saves only from one hit. By this you will have more options where to spend money. You can add even more powerups that you can switch midgame
  • Weapon and powerups (that I mentioned above) upgrade system

In overall I really liked your game. I hope you will continue to manage it further and release a full game. If you didn't understand something from what I have said, feel free to ask me.

REALLY good visuals with a good use of the theme. The progression was a little lacking, as I quickly ran out of available building positions. The gameplay was still pretty engaging, however. Well done!

Rotating the planet with weapons was a cool take on the spin theme, while I guess it's more realistic, the darkness of the asteroids did make me have to squint to make sure I was seeing them, so if they were a shade or two lighter it would help greatly, good job tho, very serious indeed.

Around the halfway mark I had already placed something in every slot so it felt like I didn't have a lot to look forward to. Despite that it was fun. I like the dialogue in the tutorial it was very serious!

I wanted to replace my hammer with other stuff but I wasn't able to. So that would be a nice feature. To remove existing weapons.

That was a really fun game, so fun that I went through and beat it twice! Some suggestions I have would be to have the thrusters maybe on some sort of fuel so you have to be a bit smarter with your movements. I do enjoy that you added different enemies like the ranged ones to help with balance and gameplay. Also, maybe if there was a system to upgrade, or sell some of the towers so there's more to do once you've taken all the space. Overall, a very fun game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! A fuel bar definitely seems like a good idea. I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)

Okay, this was way more fun than I expected, it was very satisfying to blast the asteroids with the hammers! I feel like it could develop into a full game if you want to!

Since you wanted some feedback:

- It feels like you stop progressing very early on and have nothing to look forward to in terms of progression once you've purchased every weapon.

- I feel like the boosters should have been limited/or on cooldown as they can be spammed infinitely.

- Upgrading the placed weapons might have been interesting, for example increasing hammer range, auto target for missiles, faster destroy time for laser and so on.

But these are all problems resulting from me wanting to have more of the game, so amazing job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Upgrades definitely make sense. Also I probably should have balanced the prices of the weapons better. I'm glad you had fun!

I made it!

Super fun game! Please continue working on this, there is a lot of potential!

Personally, i would prefer something like an inventory system UI to manage the building slots, clicking on them on the globe was a bit too stressful :)

Developer

Thanks so much for your comment and feedback! That’s a really good idea!

Awesome game, I survived the whole year, Was super fun and polished. I would have liked to see more.
Very good game for a first Jam!

Developer

Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!

the rocket booster should probably have a limit. Um more building space or the ability to remove building would be nice too. Asteroids if more readable would have made the game slightly better to play. Overall great game!

I love the visual details like the day/night hemispheres! Really reminds me of space invaders in a way.

very nice game, i love it. unique take on the theme, fun gameplay, beautiful graphics! the only thing is that there's no sound other than sound effects, even a singular instrument quietly tinkling away wouldve maken me give this game 4+ stars in all categories.

that doesnt mean your game isnt fantastic though. great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! You're totally right. Some music would have helped a lot. I'll definitely look into that after the jam is over.

Nice game, I like it, also is very creative

Creative use of the theme for sure :D Really fun.
The icons for weapons weren't displaying, unless playing in fullscreen.
I like the display for showing how far you are through the year.
I'm noticing though that in your screenshots your lasers have actual beams. When I played they just had an effect were the laser connected with an object. Very cool overall!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Those issues should be fixed now.

I thought that having lots of hammers and spinning really fast would be OP, but then the alien ships showed up, so I had to rethink my strategy...

It's a really fun concept that lends itself well to being expanded; well done!

Thanks so much!
