I really enjoyed this one!! That reverse cursor segment was extremely frustrating and I felt like I was playing on hard mode with my trackpad LOL but I got it. I liked the narrative as well! The windows kept opening behind the folders for some reason which was pretty annoying, and it seemed like if the x's overlapped, it closed both windows, so I was constantly closing the whole folder when I just wanted to close the file xD I also found a weird glitch where the girlfriend text message file vanished from existence after I opened it once (the icon in the folder was just gone), glad there wasn't any critical information in there lol. Super great game overall!!!

ty for playing but how did you manage to trigger like every single bug in the game what 😭????? anyways glad you enjoyed tho!

I honestly think this is my favorite game of the jam, I cannot believe you made this in 7 days! This is just, amazing. The visuals are really really great and polished, I loved, I say, I loved the bullet hell elements, it is so so well made, it reminds me of the photoshop flowey battle in undertale, and It was really fun that I had to avoid the things with just the mouse.

And I find the writing so good, I liked the little poem, I liked the conversations, I liked that you even made the effort to put a little bit of lore into this! It is really great man.

And the end, I think some people find it kinda underwhelming, but it actually made me feel something I cannot really describe. This is really a great piece of art! I'm looking forward to seeing more of you! :D

PEAK GAMING! I honestly love games like this that incorporate a UI like a phone or a computer, so it set up to a great start just because of that. The plot was intriguing and the minigames were fun as well! I got a bit raged out on the last ones though lol but they were managable. There is a spin mechanic which is really different from the rest we've seen, but it's there.

My only complaint, and to be honest if it wasn't because of this this would have turned out to be one of my favorite games for sure, was the ending...
I'm a real sucker for story games, and you got me hooked up to the story with reading the files, the logs and all that, and the ending was really underwhelming for me, sadly. That said, it was really great game overall, and would love to see it continued!

// spoiler warning for those just scrolling the comments!!!!//

tysm!!! and sorry about the ending seeming unsatisfying, i can't do anything to change your perception on it but i am gonna try to explain my thought process as it was intentional! basically throughout the entire game its being built up that like this is august's computer, something happened to him, you're playing as parker investigating the computer, you learn about their relationship, something is trying to stop you, yadda yadda. from your perspective, you're helping parker find closure, you're searching desperately for an answer that could ease his grief. while from the anomalys perspective (hopefully you read that massive boring school paper), it being a manifestation of nostalgia, its desperately trying to protect the last pocket of august's legacy untouched by his disappearance. neither side is technically in the right or wrong, but both sides represent unhealthy ways of dealing with grief. so when you get to the ultimate file simply titled "KEEP",  having it actually contain an answer to what happened to august or something that would be worth preserving would go against the entire message i was trying to make. anyways sorry this got a little incoherent, i tend to ramble but still, ty for playing my game and im glad you enjoyed!

oooh, I see that you were going for more of a metaphoric explanation, it seems. I unfortunately didn't really knew much of the lore tbh. I learned that there was a disappearance after playing it when I read the description in the page as it is not much explained, I think, in the game. (There is only the text of like "oh, have my computer, this is the password" but that's about it). And I just kinda jumped into the game, so I probably missed that.

Since that was your goal, maybe it would have helped (at least from my perspective) making it more obvious for ppl like me who didn't read the description lol. But cool idea nonetheless!

This was incredible! Great job capturing the eerie melancholic vibe, I spent the whole gaming in anticipation of what horrible fate befell August. I'm a little sad to not have an answer to that, but man if that isn't artistic af. The bullet hell portions were insanely fun; I appreciate that you only made the player restart the one encounter when they fail, and not the entire section. Your world-building was beautiful, and I love how you told it through realistic chat logs and notes-to-self. My only issue is that clicking X on a window would carry that click action to the window below it, but that's a minor bug that can be solved by changing to "On Pressed Up" rather than "On Pressed Down." Excellent job!!

Nice! You've nailed an aesthetic that really works in your story's favor. The puzzle-y bits are simple enough for stupid people like me, which is always appreciated.

This is a very small issue, but I think worth noting if you have any future plans for this. Hitting the "x" button of a window that was over another window closed both windows. Just a little something that bugged me at first.

Overall, really cool. Plus, I'm a sucker for a game with good writing, and the writing here really works for me. Great work.

This was genuinely a really, really great game. The subtle worldbuilding through text logs and notes, the foreshadowing that things aren't quite what they seem, the puzzles made of having to piece together scraps of what feels like another life, one that we only see the shadow on the wall of. So many details that would have been easy to call redundant and cut - but their inclusion made the entire thing feel just so satisfying.

The interface was clunky, but that was a deliberate design choice - and the action sequences felt amazing, even if there were times when I struggled to get through. The "You Are An Idiot" page was genuinely difficult to get through - the only time I felt an unfair difficulty spike - but the feel of progressing through was awesome.

The end reveal of the story is hollow - but it works, because it's addressed in satisfying way. It was genuine poetry, that ending - especially the sudden cut to black, with little fanfare.

This was a short but sweet experience. My only wish was that I wish it was longer.

Nice dude! I like the ambience and overall graphics! cozy.

Developer(+1)

tysm for playing but the game wasn't meant to be cozy, like at all😭if you haven't, please try to play the full game!! like 99% of it is hidden behind the first password puzzle-

Ah mb lol i guess i just liked the visuals a little too much😂

Love this so much! Can't even think of any real meaningful feedback to give. Incredible work!

I really liked the story building. My only gripe is that I couldn't see what password I was typing in, so I wasn't sure if I made a typo or not.

The conversation with the friend feels very authentic, it’s great. I also liked the atmosphere of the PC screen. The sound effects are excellent. Good game!

Awesome, my wife played this game and enjoyed it very much and only needed my help on the final boss at the end! No complaints, perfect game

Well done, I liked your game, though the part where you have to click the spinning icon while it moves around was too challenging for me, I can't click fast enough so I couldn't go any further.

Developer

aww sorry to hear that xP! i encourage you to try to complete it but if it's really too difficult here's a video of someone playing the full thing at around the 4:24:30 mark!

This is just so cool for the length of the jam! The mouse click is very satisfying, i felt like i was really using an old computer in real life :))

One of my top favorite games in this jam so far. Really well designed progression and felt super polished. I hope you keep working on it!

THIS IS SO COOL!!!!!! The audio and visuals were great, the storyline was interesting, and I really liked the action segments. Only issue was closing out of a tab sometimes closed the previous tab too.
