It's a great concept and the artwork is gorgeous. I wish there was more of a challenge or a progression system (like scoring combos of several fish in a row, or different tiers of fish), but getting better at controlling the seagull is already very rewarding, and as a small-scale project for a jam, this is very polished and complete.
Awesome.
Really like the visuals. The menu and the game art were amazing. Very well done!
A really original idea with a strong execution, beautiful visuals (the seagull on the title screen <3) and a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. I know downloadable games tend to get less traffic than browser-based ones, which is a shame because this is genuinely one of the standout entries in the jam and deserves a lot more attention. Nice work!
Thank you for the review <3. I did notice a lot of submissions are playable on the browser and regret not doing the same, but I'll add a html version afterwards.
Tbh, this is basically what I think a perfect gamejam submission. A unique control concept + cute art direction. I can definitely see this game being expanded! like imagine bigger fishes that require multiple hits to eat them, or maybe rougelike upgrades? Great work guys!
The only critique that I have is maybe the dive button, I found my self spamming E the whole time to cheat the system, perhaps the eating/diving could just be automatic? idk
Also, I think this would be a good game to export as an embedded html rather than a download (I kinda made this issue with my game submission as well)
Thank you for the review :Dd. Having our first game jam submission be called perfect is incredible to hear. We did think about adding sharks or similar dangers that you would have to avoid, but maybe in a future update. I do think the dive mechanic needs a change. It might actually help to just make the dive happen every time you press E regardless of whether you're close to the fish. It would remove some confusion on the controls and then you wouldn't be able to just spam it.
