This is such a cool idea! I love the idea of momentum being tied to damage, and it was really satisfying to get up as high as possible so I could smash down on an enemy. Music and sound effects are great (other than the bug you mention on the page), and the retro graphics are great. I like attack and movement being tied to the same controls, too.
The movement is also easy to pick up on, and feels really good. I think you've got things tuned just right.
All-in-all, solid jam entry, and it would be cool to see it fleshed out a bit more. I could imagine a full game with these mechanics and a mix of platforming challenges and combat.
Great work!
Thank you! I spent a lot of time on the movement haha, so glad you enjoyed it! I’d love to expand on the ideas here as well!
Thanks for playing!
The climb mechanic with the sword spin is really nice! I like that the direction of your swing mattered for which side of a wall you wanted to climb. No clue why, but my first load in I could not get the climb to work at all. I was stuck at the bottom of the first big climb in the tutorial. Luckily a refresh seemed to solve that issue!
Oh that’s a weird bug, definitely gotta have to take a look. Lucky that it worked out in the end though, hope it didn’t affect your enjoyment by too much!
Thanks for playing my game!
Really cool how you included spinning in the gameplay! Its fun to play, it would totally be worth it to polish this to a complete game! :)
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game, and yeah I would love to expand this game, maybe after the jam!
I really like the concept of spinning your sword clockwise vs counter-clockwise. The controls are intuitive, and it's satisfying to let it rip and start going really fast
Glad you liked it! All the hours spent tuning movement are worth it haha
Thanks for playing!
Play by play! I saw this in the discord and figured I'd let it rip!
Okay! I had fun with this for quite a bit! Great little entry. Very few points. Maybe a bit more variety? But honestly it's a jam so- yeah good stuff!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you had fun with the game, I worked hard for that movement system haha
I’m a bit busy now but I will try your game as soon as I can too! Thanks for playing!
Interesting concept, I could see a lot of cool gameplay Ideas from this. Good job!
Glad that you liked it! Thanks for playing!
always love a momentum-based platformer ! it felt very satisfying to drop down on enemies n fell them in one charge. having to use shift for thrust felt very painful tho ....
I totally did not put thrust on the goofy button to slack off on making a cooldown system 🏃♂️ Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!
love the idea using sword of this type. Really enjoyed it
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!
I actually really enjoyed this, getting a combo was very satisfying and I could easily see this being a very high skill ceiling game if developed further
Thank you for playing! I spent so much time on the combat, glad that you liked it!
I really dig the mechanics - It gets better with every level! Failuregirl will forever be an Accomplishmentgirl in my books! She spun and won!
Also, catchy tune and nice looks! :D
Glad that you enjoyed it! Too bad I couldn’t finish the story in time, Failuregirl could not have her own whimsy like the great Manager-san. Lucky she had accomplishments still!
Thanks for playing!
this game is fun to play, i like the battle when you need to swing the sword to attack the enemies. the graph is also good pixel art… good job! 🙂🔥
Thank you! I worked hard on this one, glad you enjoyed it! 😃
At first the movement was difficult for me but as i got into a flow it was a lot easier especially with the combs!
Yeah the controls are a bit unusual lol, glad you enjoyed the game still! Thanks for playing!
The controls are a bit unwieldy at first. But once I got the rhythm going, the movement felt very satisfying, especially with all the different combos you could rack up!
I agree the controls could be better lol, glad you still liked the movement! Thanks for playing!
The movement is so fun! honestly even without the enemies you could make a fun platformer out of this
Thanks for playing! So glad all the time tuning movement paid off!
Your team’s game was so fun too! :D
I really like the way you move around on walls. Even without the enemies it's fun to just fly around on the walls!
I'd be happy if you'd try out our game too :3
Thanks a lot for playing! It was the thing I spent the most time tuning, and glad that you liked it!
Your team’s game was so fun as well! :D
Heyyy this is such a great game! The movement is so fun and honestly at first I was confused why my damage was so low, but then i figured out how to stagger and oh boy the game was so fun then! Flying and staggering enemies and one shotting them is so so so cool. If you ever continue working on this, i'll 100% play it, one of the most interesting games I have played in this jam. Side note, in the controls you wrote use A and W to move, I think you wanted to right A and D to move. Regardless a fun experience!
Thank you so much for the kind words 💖 This really means a lot to me after all the long hours spent! 😭😭😭
Also damn I fumbled the page lol sleepy got the best of me
Great game! The movement felt smooth when i got used to it and doing critical hits to enemies is really satisfying :D
Thank you! Glad you liked it, and thanks for the mutual review! :D
You've done a good job here. I really like the movement, although the damage system feels off to me.
Thanks for playing! Glad the movement feels nice, so the absurd amount of time I spent on it is justified haha! Too bad I couldn’t do the same for damage system
The movement is pretty well made. I think you forgot to add the full screen button for the web build. So the game was looking very small on my screen. Also I tried for a while but couldnt finish the last part of the first level. Not sure if it was somekind of bug or skill issue from me lol
Anyway, its a pretty charming game
Thank you! As for that last part, here is how to do it if you don’t mind me spoiling:
spoiler
Switch swing direction on the fly! You move left and left click to latch to the left wall, then in the air, while having momentum, move right and right click to propel and latch to the right side wall!
Perhaps this was not obvious enough lol
this game was very hard, then i fixed the bug that was stopping the music and proceeded to lock in from that ABSOLUTE BANGER
Thanks for playing haha!
