You can crank it while moving around if you don’t stop interacting after a stall. Simple but nice lil game. Not sure how much I like the dithering at full resolution.

New Markiplier movie incoming.
Great game was very cool.

Developer

Haha, if Markiplier ever touches this machine, I'm retiring early. Glad you dug the vibe, man! Thanks for checking it out.

I'm blown away! A spooky, dread-filled experience. Remarkable that you managed to do this in such a short time frame.

Developer

Appreciate the love! Honestly, the dread was real for us too just trying to squeeze all of this in before the jam timer hit zero. Glad the atmosphere landed exactly how we wanted.

I had a lot of fun with this one! It is quite polished, and I'm very impressed with what was accomplished in just 7 days. Nice sound design and gameplay. I played this game much longer than most games in the jam so far. Something about it kept me engaged and on edge the entire time (not sure what was going to appear behind the drill).

Developer

Hell yeah, glad the sound design kept you paranoid! We spent a stupid amount of time tuning that drill sequence to make sure it felt oppressive, so hearing you stayed hooked that long means a lot for a 7-day build. Stay tuned, we're not done with this world yet.

I don't think I have ever pressed a keyboard faster than when that drill appeared behind me

For a one-week game jam, what's been achieved here is pretty remarkable. The aesthetic is fantastic, the Iron Lung inspiration for the machine comes through beautifully, and the sound design is really poliched. The atmosphere strikes a wonderfully strange balance: weirdly cosy with a constant feeling that something could jump out at any moment! This is one I'll definitely be keeping an eye on after the jam. Excellent work, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, "Weirdly cozy but terrifying" is the massive compliment for a horror game!

Amazing atmosphere. The clunks of the controls, the puttering of the engine, the creaking of the metal cage; they all come together beautifully.

That said, I feel the gameplay needs balancing. I was overdriving the engine just for the sake of something to do. When the threat actually arrived, I had just pulled the lever to vent and stop the engine, so there was nothing I could and the moment fell flat. I'd already gotten bored of the mechanics by then, so I felt no motivation to try again.

You have a diamond in the rough, here. It just needs polishing. Considering you built this in 7 days for a game jam, that's honestly the best possible nitpick I could give you. I hope you keep working on this.

Developer(+1)

You hit the nail completely on the head. That exact Overdrive/venting dead zone was the biggest mechanical flaw in the build. Players could just cheese the timer or get completely stranded with zero counterplay. Massively appreciate the 'diamond in the rough' comment, that's exactly the fuel I need. Checking out The Gunktown Gazette next!

interaction feels cool, took me a second to figure out how to crank, and i didnt stay for too long realizing im managing something, love the art style!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Glad the interaction felt cool once it clicked!Yeah, the mechanical balance gets stressful fast once you realize what you're managing. Appreciate the love for the art style. Checking out CRANKD next!

I love the idea and graphics but in honesty the game is kinda boring and there a tons of bugs

Developer (1 edit)

Appreciate the real talk! Jam code is basically held together by duct tape and prayers lol. What specific bugs did you run into? Definitely want to hunt them down and fix the pacing post-jam. Checking out Dealer's Choice now!

The tension of managing heat while something’s hunting you from above is so good. Loved deciding when to risk the Overdrive push. Cockpit gauges sell it too!

Developer(+1)

Awesome to hear the dashboard tension worked for you! That split-second decision to risk the Overdrive push is exactly the panic we were aiming for. Stoked that the gauges sold it. Checking out Stillpoint right now

Really great game! The atmosphere is crafted wonderfully - gives strong Iron Lung vibes, were you inspired by that? Either way well done!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Massive thanks! Yes, Iron Lung was absolutely a huge inspiration for that cockpit. Really glad the atmosphere hit the mark for you. Checked out your submission too, awesome work!

Really great Iron Lung aesthetic and novel control scheme. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Hell yeah, David Szymanski's style was definitely on our minds while building this. Really glad the novel control scheme felt good instead of just frustrating. Heading over to drop a rating on Clown School now!
