Now this is FUN! Super satisfying when using the ultimate for stacks of enemies!

Love to see another bullet hell! Yours looks really polished, and it was fun to play for a few rounds but my arm got tired really quickly from having to keep spinning around my player ship trying to get my damage up again. Other than that, I enjoyed yours!

Cool and fun-to-play game. I wonder if you've tried (and maybe ruled out) adding momentum to the controls. I think it could be a nice addition to the spacecraft feeling.

Also, just a personal opinion, I feel like adding a protective shell to absorb the damage and let it re-generate with the spinning, instead of re-generating the health, would look nice.

Other than that, great game, congrats!

Yeah we did think about momentum, actually. We decided against it to make it similar to classic arcade shmups, but I doubt it would've been a negative addition. The shield thing is an interesting idea

I liked it very much (even though i'm bad at this hahaha) The spinning spaceship is very, VERY serious, not silly at all hahaha!!! Great job!!!

Really fun but a nightmare on browser

Got to 19.300 (lvl 47 IIRC, with the cross weapon) after a few attempts to get my bearings!  I like the old school graphics and juice of the bullets.

Because of the number of enemies on the screen, it is very hard to NOT fire, and I thought the manual spinning felt more like a chore than a fun game mechanic.  I could also cheese this by not holding the fire button and building spin by clicking LMB really fast.  I ended up maining the cross weapon because I don't know how I can be expected to aim accurately while also trying to spin wildly, I feel the two mechanics clash with eachother.

I also found it exceptionally hard to charge the ultimate, and then once I did, I found them to be underwhelming (a few I don't even think hit an enemy).  IMO it should have been either much easier to charge or (my personal choice) make it an absolute screen obliterator that rewards the player for finally charging it.

I hope this didn't sound too harsh, I liked the basic game loop, but I wanted to give constructive feedback.

The reason why the ultimate was so weak was because you were using cross laser.  It had probably the strongest primary, with high damage, high piercing and firing in 4 directions. To balance this, we made the ultimate the weakest one. Anything the ultimate hits will be killed but it has a hard time hitting much. Other weapons have significantly stronger ultimates. The shotgun has an ultimate similar to Cross Laser, however instead of firing in 8 directions, it fires in 36 directions and is basically a screen clear.

Also you say it was hard not to fire and to build ultimate. It’s usually a better strategy to build up your spin in one go and then shoot for a few seconds only to continue the cycle. The only break to the cycle being firing at the chasing enemies. If you fire too much your damage becomes really low.

This game forces you to swap between playing a bullet hell to get enough spin to do significant damage when you swap to shooting and then it becomes asteroids. The loop works really, really well. Great work!

This is great fun! I love the weapon choices, and the style feels very convincingly retro.

Fun fast arcade shooter. Finding time to spin was challenging but I think it works. Would be interested to try it with a stick instead of a mouse.

The spinning mechanic was really coool! Lots of fun! Great job!

Though my wrist gets sore after swirling the mouse too much, but it's a cool spinning and shooting arcade-style game. You have weapon variety and an ultimate too, which is nice. Good job!

The glowy visuals are amazing, I love the particles. I wouldn't mind a little more screen shake personally. But yeah, fun, simple, pick up and playable arcade game. I think keeping simple like this really helps in jams cause I'm playing a lot of games and its not to spend 5 minutes just trying to understand the game. Good job!

Developer

Thanks, we definitely thought about more camera shake, but figured it didnt fit the game quite well.

simple yet fun game

Really fun shoot em up, loved the different weapons and ultimates Maybe the difficult spike was too high when the enemies starts spawning each 5 seconds But thats the only thing Love the game <3

Submitted (1 edit)

loved how you had to balance spinning and shooting while you dodging a bunch of bullets, loved the particles too

Great time, trying to balance spinning and shooting to make sure I could do enough damage without too much downtime causing me to get hit was a nice way to mix up this kind of gameplay.

Controls felt really good, and the spinning felt surprisingly smooth.

Nice job! I really like the main menu, different weapon options, and the idea to spin your ship around to build up your ult 👌

This was awesome! I really enjoyed the "Bouncer" weapon; the ultimate was super satisfying to see flying around destroying everything in it's path. Nice work!

Exactly the game I expected to see made with this theme; wonderful. The combat is so fluid and timing spins/ult in between taking care of enemies is difficult but just works so well. Everything about this game is so polished, well done!
