Even for a fast prototype I think it needs some more feedback and visual clarity.
Flash the enemies white when hit. Change the hue of the player so it doesn't look exactly the same as the enemies.
This would help a lot with visual clarity. (You also just die instantly when you start it lol)

You put a lot of effort into all different stats and menus before putting much effort in the gameplay loop.
I think it might be better to make the basic gameplay of moving and swinging a sword satisfying and fun first before adding a bunch of stats and weapons.
The player doesn't feel the systems.
The player feels how the moment to moment gameplay feels. Even if there's and in depth stats system it makes no difference if the player isn't engaged by the gameplay itself.

Good luck if you continue working on this! 😁

Thank you for the feedback and you're right. I do intend on working on it... thank you 😁. A full re-work of it. And as for the issue about the spawn kill, I'll be sure to fix it once voting ends, and add it to the new update.

It's in a bit of a rough state, but it's of course a prototype as you said in the description.

kinda see the vision here, feels like the sword idea has potential, I think it needs to be more obvious when you hit the enemies.
You know what would be cool, some cool abilities that are different for all swords, maybe some rarer swords has abilities and some more common doesn't. I see you've got an inventory in mind, so that's cool.

I like the concept, intrigued to see where you're taking it!

All things considered, actually a bit enjoyable for what it is currently :)

Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback! And yes, I've got a whole lot in store, that's for sure. I'll also rework some systems to make it better in the next update. Stay tuned 🙂‍↕️

Interesting, I see what you’re going for in the prototype. It's like one of those wave-based horde survival games with weapons and an upgrade system.

Developer

Yes indeed. I'm planning on expanding it even further after the jam ends since I got a bunch of ideas and unique swords and levels I wanna make

its interesting, I personally enjoy this type of games, but its a little bit confusing cause enemies and player look exactly the same which make hard to distinguish between them, it has a lot of potential to escalate and be a full game

Developer

Thank you and yes, I intend to draw everything again. I focused working on a prototype since I was short on time. I'll be doing a lot of updates on it when voting ends.

It took a minute to figure out what was happening (enemies and player are all the default Godot sprite), but it's an interesting prototype.

Developer

Thank you. I'll make it much better in the next update

I could see the potential of this prototype! Right now, indeed, the feedback really needs to be clear. First thing, I didn't really know if I should buy a new sword or not. I don't know what the other see, but the diamond long sword doesn't look different from the regular one. Second, the enemies getting hit isn't very clear. Maybe just a sound: "Tsh", and it could get 100x better! Good work! Can't wait for the next upgrade for this game!

Thank you! I see, I intend to re-work the art work for the weapons and well everything really. Currently the only way to tell which one is better or not is through the stats under the inventory. I will also add a damage text overlay as a QOL feature. I'll add the audio for when enemies are hit.

I love what you're going for here, as I am a huge fan of the spinning sword idea, that's what my jam submission is about. I love the sword you drew. I think your game could be awesome if you made the sword impactful, made it more responsive/spin faster, spin in different directions, had art for the enemies. Good idea and concept though :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! And yes, currently, I made it so you increase sword speed through stats, so it will start out rather slow, but it should be quick if you assign the first few stats you earn. And you're right, I intend on further improving this concept since I have a bunch of ideas in mind and I'd like to see them through 🙂‍↕️. Didn't have as much time as I had hoped for cause of things currently happening in my life. So I made a simple prototype and I at least wanted to make the concept show even if it was incomplete lol.

I couldn’t do anything game started and I just lost spinning the sword worked but it just went through the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, yes, it does deal damage to the enemies. Currently I hadn't set up a UI for enemy hp, due to things currently happening in my life right now. So I didn't have that much time to do so. Hence why I plan on improving it further than what it is right now.
