I liked it, I do wish the asteroids posed a little more of an active threat though. a lot of them just spawn in completely out of range before flying off. Had to actively try for awhile to see what happened if they hit the planet.
Yeah, I had a problem with writing the script. My solution barely looks like it works.
It's a game that has a lot of charm. It's short, it's simple, but it's cute. There's no sound in space so it fits?
Adds to comedic hopelessness right?
That was silly. I think adding sound effects and some screen shake would really elevate this! I liked the google dinosaur cameo at the end :3
I was thinking about small particle effect of space debris to make it still look small.
Oddly enough I think lack of music or any sound make it more eerie which makes it even funnier by the absurd low class hopelessness.
It wouldn't be funny without treating itself so seriously and then ending it with simple toon "boom".
Thanks for comment.
I love how dramatic this is! The cutscene at the end is definitely earning that "serious" point. The spinning mechanic is simple and works correctly. It also offers a bit of difficulty due to how you can only move forwards and not backwards. Great work for a first game jam!
Thank you for your kind opinion.
To be frank this is not my first project on ANY game. I mostly made mods for other games so this first time doing something from ground up. I have some knowledge and experience but planning, ordering and figuring out how to translate idea on the playable state is something so hard I would the video games the hardest medium in existence.
Don't be so critical of yourself. Making games is hard.
Keep making games!
I used to be IRL animator/entertainer, city guide, writer, video editor and did some machinima and translate it into comics... Yeap video games are harder.
