Huh, this is pretty interesting, one of those games that takes place in a small space, can't say I ever saw something consider the projectionist booth before. You build a lot to manage in a small space! I think a little more tutorializing would have gone a long way here in easing the player in. I really like the animations on screen, and the projectionist booth feels really lived in. I guess we're the only two silent film era games in the jam, eh? :)
The game has a lot of potential, the concept is so cool. Definitely needs more polish though, interacting with stuff is a bit buggy and the timing is rough. There’s also a bug where if you pause anywhere where you need your mouse (cranking the film, film rewinder/unscrambler, etc…) you get softlocked when you unpause, probably because it hides your mouse again. Would love to see this expanded on and tweaked, I adore the visuals and the idea!
Super creative idea and high quality/effort on the visuals! I do think the game was a little too hard, since I lost the frog one almost as soon as I put in the movie. Also, I kept dying to the bears in that movie, and it tooke me a solid 3 replays before I even understood what happened haha. Either I was going too slow, too fast or getting hit by the bears. That might be on me, but it would be nice with a hint or something if you keep dying to the same thing multiple times! Like I said, I do think the concept is super cool and its definitely one of the more creatives ones I've played so far!
Thanks for the feedback! We didn't have much time to playtest the game, lol. Some of us also think it's pretty tricky. We probably should've added a short waiting period before the film starts to give players a bit more time to get ready.
Haha I know how it is, main task is just to get it to work, especially when it's such short time. And good idea with the waiting period! Good luck if you keep developing after the jam
Very cool cartoony visuals. The game definitely has potential!
Thanks for the feedback.
I really like the idea but the game seemed a bit buggy when I played it. It was very difficult to crank the projector and I couldn't grab the film out of the projector to unscramble it, so I couldn't progress very far. Still I think this idea has good potential!
Thanks for the feedback! After the jam, we're going to fix these issues and improve the overall game feel.
As for the projector bug, the workaround is pretty funny, you literally have to stick your head inside the tape to get it. 😂
lol I didn’t think to try that. But I look forward to the update! I’ll definitely give this game another try then!
This is very cool. I love the animation on the screen when you turn the projector handle, it's very creative. I could see this being a full length game!
Thanks for the feedback! We plan to keep working on the game and improve it further in the future.
