Honestly the game concept is so great, mixed with beautiful art, good job you have made a wonderful game !
I loved the names! Very difficult, but then we both made difficult games sooo... can't say much. But well played, good sir! It's like if a tower defense was actually... well... good.
Beautiful game honestly. Loved switching between my circles. Really appreciated the naming convention. Capt Wheeler, Lt Turner, Sgt Revvy, and Maj Axle (I just added ranks I don't remember if they had ranks or not but the names stuck out) :)
I love the concept a lot, I grew up playing all kinds of tower defense games. The music and general aesthetic of the game were really cool. I liked the storyline and I chuckled a bit at all the clever acronyms.
I had some notes on the execution. The enemies at the beginning could be slowed down just a little so you can get the hang of the way the spin works, I felt overwhelmed very quickly, but the upgrades helped out later. It would be great to have the ability to sell towers to get a little money back, I definitely regretted how I placed my towers, so it would be great to be able to revert. Lastly I thought the firing rate of the shooting towers was a bit slow, all it took was 2 enemies to overwhelm my turret. Maybe allow the player the shoot with the turrets themselves by pressing space?
Again, love the concept. The execution just needs a little bit more imo.
This was absolutely awesome! The visuals, music and sounds are great and the spinning theme is really well incorporated. It was a bit hard to control many of the rings separately so just stacked outer rings with traps and didn't move them much. Then used guns on the inner layer and played with those.
I'm terrible at tower defense games, but I managed to beat the game anyway!
That retro vibe is amazing! I really liked everything: the visuals, the art, and even the dialogue fonts!
If it were possible to control the rings using numbers (like 1 for ring 1, 2 for ring 2, etc.), managing the tower would be more interesting.
Really good game! Some text was duplicated in the tutorial, but the fact it has a tutorial at all is already really good. The writing was funny and the visuals were awesome. The gameplay was a bit of a struggle but maybe I'm just bad at it. Good job!
I love this type of tower defense and i actually did something like this once but the idea of adding more rings to the base is interesting. Overall, nice job!
Fun top-down-shooter/tower defence!
I really like the retro artstyle, it fits the game perfectly.
All of the spin related puns and initialisms was a great touch too.
I kinda wish there were more levels or an endless mode, the game felt like it ended a bit abruptly and I would have liked more time to build out the ring. (probably not the worst thing that my main criticism is that I wanted to play more though)
solid tower defense! felt so powerful each time i bought a new ring, but the game's difficulty also scaled well with powering up. nice work :D
Really cool take on the tower defense genre. I liked the visuals and music, though it looks like the assets for the traps and walls only loaded for the tutorial and were just white squares for the actual game, which made it hard to remember what I put where. I also had a panicked moment after I bought the second ring where I was trying to figure out how to switch between rings, I figured it out quick enough, but it might be good to add a tool tip. Lastly, the turret's red view triangles were pretty hard to see against the purple background, might be good to make a small adjustment to make them easier to see. The old school sprites for the enemies were also really fun and overall I had a lot of fun playing the game and wanted more.
I really enjoyed this one! Gives me a vibe of old flash tower defence games I used to play, I actually wish it was longer! Well done!
Wow, that's a huge team! I wander how hard it was to work with so many people in such a shor time
Your music and visuals people did an awesome job, honestly 10/10. I believe it will be one of the best-rated games in those two categories! Also, it was a really creative use of the theme. Well, at least one of the themes, haha
However, I think there are a few technical bugs. I couldn't buy any ring upgrades, so I beat the game with just two towers, spinning in one direction and I didnt get hit once. Also, the tutorial didn't teach me much, it ends with a win screen regardless of whether I fail or kill that one enemy. On top of that, the buttons for buying a wall and a trap overlap, making it hard to know what you are actually buying
One really specific detail: your volume slider isn't converting to dB correctly. At 20%, the audio is already completely muted
Despite these issues, the core idea has huge potential. I really think you should fix these bugs and release it as a polished, standalone project. It would look very professional in your portfolio! I wish you all best!
Thanks for the amazing comment! Yeah the team is on the large size and even though there is more capacity it also complicated communications and keeping everyone aligned on the concept and ideas.
I agree that the music and visuals is definitely one of our strongest suits.
The version you played did indeed have some bugs which we've mostly worked out over the last few hours. The upgrades should be fixed and the tutorial has been changed to flow a bit better. (volume should also work as intended now)
I do agree there is potential in the game and we might be continuing development for a bit (maybe with a smaller team) after the jam to maybe get a steam release going and improving input across multiple devices and input methods.
Thanks again for the comment! I also like the style of your game a lot!
