Pretty solid little prototype, you have a good base here. The grapple mechanic is really cool and could easily be the center of a really satisfying moveset if you decide to expand on this.

Few pointers:
- The game's visuals were really small on my screen and it made it hard to make out what was happening. For a pixel art game you generally want to turn on viewport stretching, so that the game gets scaled up cleanly when the window is resized instead of staying at the same scale and just getting a wider fov.
- The art could use a little reworking for clarity - I ran into some spikes at the start because I couldn't tell what they were at all, they looked like background objects. The enemies also blended into the background a little.
- Really appreciate that you took the time to add a few sound effects, they really help with making a small prototype like this feel like something more of an actual game. I think the landing sound effect could maybe use some work though, it does just sound like a kick drum right now :P

I also notice that you don't seem to have actually picked one of the themes...? At least, you didn't say which one you picked in your explanation, which makes it kind of impossible to rate on it.

Thank you for your feedback, and playing the game. Imma use everything you've to improve the next game i work on, i am reallt greatful as ive only been at this a year and know alot needs improvement.

i feel like the game could off been alot more, but i published it early due to final exams.

i appriciate your criticisms and praises, thank you :)

the pixel art looks nice, i think the sound effects need work, they dont sound accurate and are too loud. I tyhink the movement with the card going up is nice and i think you could have done more with that mechanic.

Developer

Thank you! About sound affects, this was my first time doing them lol, still havent got the hang on them. Appreciate the feed back!

The pixel art is really nice, I gotta say. The slashes look nice and satisfying to see, player animations are really fluid and have a nice little bounce to them, you stand out pretty well despite being a red character in a red world, and the grapple hook could provide some fun platforming and combat potential.  Only critique I can really give is it's hard to tell when you're damaging enemies. Other than that, I just enjoyed roaming around a bit.  Could I have wanted  bit more? Yeah. But, speaking as someone who has also released a game where you mostly just explore around and see what's there for this jam, I can't fault it too much. Sometimes it's just fun to explore around what a dev/team of devs made in the final product they put out. Found a way out of the map as well, which was fun. The world cannot contain me. But all in all, good work on still releasing this despite your setbacks. I was happy to play and experience this little game demo.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! finding a way out the world was something i tried to do for ages😭 im glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for playing :)

???? what's unfinished? i met the big rat and he was awesome. working as intended

jokes aside, i like the style youve got going on! a bit too short for me to truly give it a proper critique, but i like the instructions being natural scrawls on the wall, and the hook mechanic is pretty interesting and would be worth exploring more :-)

Developer

Thank you! I feel like its unfinished cuz i had alot more plannet. Now that final exams are over i plan to rework the game, as I actually really enjoyed working on it

I like the pixel graphics. I wish there was more of course but that's a good thing! It seems like it would be a fun environment to explore.

Developer

thank you! now that exams are over i may rework this game😁
