Very cool project with some interesting mechanics which I've not seen before in this jam. The bounciness of the spinner is great, with so much speed being able to be picked up in one set of bounces. I wasn't a big fan of the lack of control that you got at high speeds as I got backtracked a bunch because of it, but the brake does serve as a nice counter to that, even if I probably didn't use it to its full potential. Also I got 66 babies and I don't know what that means but I'm happy with it, good stuff :)
The artstyle is great! The colors really stand out when everything else is monochrome.
Level design seems to take into account how the player movement works. The enemies shoot very predictably.
However I still found the movement more frustrating than fun since it takes such a long windup to move. It reminds me of the rage game "Jump King". I don't think it's inherently bad design since as I said you built the levels with the movement in mind. Just not something I enjoy personally as I prefer something that's faster to control.
I wish there was a little more feedback on how beating the enemies works. The average player should be able to figure it out just by playing. I didn't figure it out before writing this and reading the comments here. The enemy should for instance flash/make an unique sound when you successfully hit them. Quite easy to implement and that would have helped immensely in trying to figure out how the game works.
When playing I came up with a bunch of theories like (Oh I need to hit the barrel, Oh I need to hit them fast) which then guided me to not play the game correctly and in turn found it too difficult and gave up.
Also I have no clue what the babies have to do with anything???
Bouncing around all over the place with full force was fun!
Cool game even if not my cup of tea gameplay wise.
SAVE DA BABIES
This awesome windmill is making my brain spin!╰(▔∀▔)╯
I love this, very undertale-like. Took a moment to figure out the movement, but after that it was fun:D
i've gained +66 babies, but at what cost... very nice minimalistic artstyle and movement was very fun to watch accelerate to light speed :D
I really like the style but the movement felt a bit too chaotic, almost like luck at times
Umm don't get it 🧐 but fun and qualityous 🥸
you just gotta hit em twice man 😅
Oh, ok, I was trying to figure out whether it was speed-based and even if I had to hit them with the things (hearts?) around the player, but I discarded that theory pretty fast. Guess I overthought it too far 🤣 Maybe you could turn the center circle gray after the first hit or add other visual feedback to make it 100% clear how many hits are left.
I played it again and got to the end. I agree with other comments that an invulnerability window would be nice, and, personally, I think it would feel better if projectiles impacting at the same time only cost one life.
Still... what's with the babies?🧐 (I got -4848 saved ;-;)
Anyway, I mean what I said in the previous comment, the game feels neat.
What the heck man, you lost 4,848 babies.
I agree with the not being able to tell how much health the enemies have left. The grey circle is a good idea!!
But... why am I losing them? :'(
The mechanic and bumper effects were very cool. I don’t get the whole baby thing, but it is probably super serious!
REALLY serious!
It's a really cool game! I really like the pixel art style, and also the style of the game's itch page! The banner looks super cool!
One funny thing is that the instructions only told me not to get hit, and it took me a while to realize that hitting the enemies can also destroy them.
Cool game!
I really like the main mechanic but I could not figure out how to get past the second room after the checkpoint. Everything just seems to be bouncing me back to the hallway of bullets. Might just be a skill issue though. Also I think the charging up takes a bit too long. Not sure why the death screen was mentioning babies lol
I think it's the simplest game and the one that most closely adheres to the theme that I've seen so far (in a good way!). Very fun!
I liked your game, the mechanich is similar to mine. The only thing I can think to improve it a little is to make a window of invulnerability after you get hit, so you don't get hit again when trying to escape. Really good.
Was very fun to bounce around! Great idea and feels challenging.
Thank you! I'll check out your game.
Loved the vibe to this game, fun with a really neat mechanic! Loved bumping around everywhere lol, great job!
i really liked the idea here and it feels really good as well
Thanks! I'll check out your game :)
Creative touch here. I had to play a little to understand that the characters moves toward the mouse position. once I figured that, playing was much easier. Clean concept and polished.! nice job.
Really creative and fun. At first I didn't know I could move towards the mouse cursor.
Thanks! I loved your game.
At first I thought the game was more bullet hell like and I had to stay alive as long as possible so I stayed still for like 2 minutes in the first screen bc the turrets can't hit you LMAO.
I started moving and I actually really liked the mechanic. I felt a little too fragile at times and felt some deaths were unfair, especially in level 2. The spin effect was very cool (just a little bit slow for my liking) and the player sprite was pretty. I really enjoyed the game, the atmosphere with the music and the SFX was really good, I was really immersed. I might be a little bad at the game considering I lost... -1464 babies.... :( sorry babies. Great game though !
The game was nice man i really enjoyed the sound did you make it or is it copyrighted? i wanna use it in my games forest area which i will expand next.
I made all of the sounds!!
