I really like the concept, it reminds me of NYT puzzle games like Strands or Spelling Bee. However, I might be misunderstanding how to play, but it doesn't seem to accept any of my words xD It's already quite difficult to think of length-specific words that both start and end with specific letters (honestly I could only come up with 2 words in the three times I tried playing), but the 2 times I did think of words that would fit, they weren't accepted. I assume "luau" and "round" aren't in the dictionary :( The idea was really good, would just like more feedback and/or less restrictions!

Developer

You dont have to write words at exactly 6 letters or whatever the game tells you... You can write words between 4 to 7 letters but the 6 letter words score double!

I'm sorry for the lack of words, Im not a native speaker so there are a lot of words that are not detected.

Thanks for the feedback!!

This game has very catchy music and a nice modest execution, Although itd be a lot better if it was clearer if its the amount of letters required as a whole or amount needed to complete the word

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!!

I didn't rate it even though I love the concept because it does not seem to work for me!

First try, four-letter word, "pity" was not accepted.

Second try, five-letter word, "tipsy" was not accepted:

Can you please explain what's wrong here?

Also, it would be better if instead of being shown only at the beginning of a game, the category was also shown during the game, so I can remember if I have to write a four-letter or five-letter word!

If you explain, I'd be happy to rate it! Thanks!

Developer (1 edit)

You need to write the whole word and press enter! A lot of words will not be detected because of the dictionary.

As for the category I got that suggestion from an other person too! I will add it as soon as I can!

Keep in mind that you can write words out of the category but will score half!!

Thank you for explaining!

I loved the game! It felt very fun and also when you spin you get into this paralysis of wow how can I think opposite now? There were quite a few words that did not get accepted like clay, duck, perm and rewe (last one is a joke, only makes sense if you live in germany). I would recommend watching GMTK on what resource he used for is word game as I remember he also had struggles fitting all the words in the game. Also idk why but my mouse would not work in the game and I could not exit it! it did not work with my trackpad but did with my mouse which I think is a bug of the game since it locks the keyboard for the game maybe? All in all, nice theme execution and fun concept!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Unfortunately I don't live in Germany, so I didn't get the joke :( , as for the mouse, yes, it locks on the screen, you have to press esc to make it appear.

Also, thanks for your words!!!

You're welcome I liked seeing a word game in the jam :D
Ah okay that makes sense! Rewe is also just a supermarket name I just could not think of another word starting with r and ending with e :))

This was a very interesting game. I like Wordle and this felt a bit like that! When it said, "7 letter word" and the letters were P and S, I said Phases (6 letters), and it was right. A short yet promising game. Great job. :D

Developer(+1)

Yes if it was a 7 letter wort it would score double!

Thank you for playing!

Not my type of game but still enjoyed it. Great job

Developer

thanks for playing

I really enjoyed the idea... I'm just terrible at spelling games like these. I like the simple funny hand painted graphics as well. It's definitely a good entry in the jam with a very unique theme gimmick, just not my cup of tea. It also has problems with recognizing some definitely existing words, which made me lose. Still, deserves a high rating. Good job!

Developer

Yes, because I had trouble conecting my game to an existing dictionary I had to make my own... So I took the most searched words in google!
Can you tell me some words that are not detected?

Submitted

Really fun concept! I did well imo (look for "Jonny" in the leaderboard :)) but there were a couple of times when I submitted a word I was very proud of myself for using that didn't go through, but after reading the comments here I now understand why that is. So besides just increasing the game's dictionary, my only critique would be I don't see enough of the purple-robed fella! I love word games and I didn't expect to find one here, so that was a pleasant surprise. Great game!

Thanks for the feedback!

I really like the idea! With more polish i can see it being a fun intense game.
Feedback on when a correct word is scored, or a correct word history is essential in my opinion. I'm bad at word games so i didn't manage to go far before restarting, so idk if it already exists, but chanhing letts or applying modifiers mid run could be fun!

Thanks for the feedback!!

bit too much for me as a non-English speaker on the other side of the pond🤣but why doesn't mouth or month pass the five letter of M-H... and btw i think it would be reasonable to show the length of word reminder in game, but overall, graphic sound typing function all done well!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm a non-native English speaker too!

The words are coming from Google most searched words, so a lot of words are not detected! I had a list of people who played it before I uploaded the game but we are not native speakers so a lot of them slipped our minds !

Thanks for the feedback and the words you provided!

Submitted

As a wordle enjoyer I like it! I was absolutely terrible under the timer pressure but it was fun.

I'm not sure how you validate the words I submit but I had a few words that weren't accepted (for example on 4 letter words starting with S and ending with F, the word "surf" wasn't accepted).

Overall a really cool idea!

Developer

It was just enter 🤣. Yest there are many words that are mot accepted, it's difficult to make it catch all of them!

I will add as many as are mentioned though!

Thanks for your feedback!!!

Good game, i love wordle type games so this was nice:D

Cool concept, and very satisfying to get words right. Though, many times typing a word doesn't work. Also, some letter pairs are more difficult than others (I got x and something else once), this could be fixed by making your own letter pairs and selecting randomly from those, instead of out of every letter (unless you did that already and the x pair is a troll or something). Also wish you could see a list of words you've submitted, for convenience purposes. The concept is nice and thought provoking but it's still rough around the edges.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback!

I was thinking of adding the words you submitted but I had no time...

Words are being selected by a random word on the 10,000+ word dictionary! So l and x was just a bad example of rng...

Cool idea!  I generally really like word games, so it's cool to see one here.  I thought this was a really neat idea.  The ability to spin let me kind of clear my head when I got stuck and ran out of ideas for one pair of letters, which was great.  I do think the dictionary needs to be expanded, though, because there were a number of words that weren't accepted, including simple ones like "eels."

All-in-all, this was a very good jam entry.  Nice work!

Developer

Yes, having more people to test is a great experience! I know there are a lot of word that are simple yet not detected. The words are coming from a Google search dictionary that they made.

In addition English is a large language with a massive number of words,  and me being not a native speaker holds back the game a lot.

There, is a post down that I have gotten some words that are not in game, I would appreciate if you remember some to write them there!

Thanks for the feedback!

I really like the artwork, music and the general idea of the game, unfortunately I am terrible at wordle like games:) great work tho

Developer

Same here!🤣🤣

And I made the game 😅

Submitted

Overall a good game! I loved the spinning wheel when you get stuck but I felt like the letters on the wheel should change.

Developer

Thanks for your suggestion!

I might do it in the future!!

Submitted

Amazing idea! Reminds me of puzzle games like Wordle. You might need to expand the dictionary because it doesn't seem to be detecting some words. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to exit fullscreen and return to the game page.

Developer

Yes, building a game around words is a tedious task! You need to either build a dictionary yourself or use a plugging to use a dictionary, which is difficult!

Thanks for the post! I will try to fix it!

Can you tell me which words it didn't detect?

Submitted

I'm sorry but I don't remember... Best of luck!
