How is this game a platformer, what spin does it bring to the genre?
It's a standard 2D platformer with moving, jumping, and wall jumps. The twist is that every platform evolves whenever you land on it: egg → larva → pupa → butterfly. Landing on the same platform again advances it another stage, so the level gradually consumes itself and becomes a one-shot traversal puzzle.

What theme does this game use? also explain how you implemented the theme
I used both themes. Metamorphosis is the core mechanic: eggs evolve through four life stages, and the exit remains sealed until every one has completed its transformation. Speedrun comes from tracking the best completion time for each stage, challenging players to solve the metamorphosis puzzle as efficiently as possible.

Did you use any AI or PREMADE assets in this game?
No AI was used. Sound assets are CC BY 4.0 licensed. A few of art is premade, most of the art was made for this game.

I like the style, and the gameplay grew on me. Those last couple of levels were a fun challenge for me. I felt that jumping on the same object 3 times could be a little repetitive. I was a little disappointed that the transformations really didn't matter much. Very rarely did I need to worry about them.

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I’m glad the gameplay grew on you and that you enjoyed the last couple of levels. I also agree that the transformations could have played a bigger role. I’d like to explore that more if I continue developing the game after the jam.

Very Nice! I like the style and the gameplay. The last couple stages felt very repetitive, more of a consistency trial than a speedrun. I feel speedruns benefit more from variety than consistency, but that's just my opinion. Only other thing I'd change is the wall jump. Locking you out from jumping off the wall after once feels off, I'd prefer a brief delay or forced kickoff velocity instead. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it. I can definitely see what you mean about the later stages becoming more of a consistency challenge. While building the stages, I realized I personally tend to enjoy that kind of challenge. Thanks for the wall jump suggestion as well!

Gosto muito de jogos com estetica preto e branco, e a gameplay estava muito boa. mas ainda assim apesar de ouver variedade na gameplay o jogo fica um pouco intediante. mas tenho a serteza de que esse jogo ainda pode melhorar! 👍🏽

Developer

Obrigado! I’m glad you liked the black-and-white style and the gameplay. I agree that it could use more variety, and I’d like to explore the transformation mechanics more in future updates.

Really nice game!

I was thinking that every transformation should have more meaning

Thanks for the feedback! There are a few later stages where you have to ride a larva to progress, but I agree that I could have done more to give each transformation its own unique role.

I've noticed a theme during this jam of people making their games excessively hard right from the rip... However you do a fantastic job easing the player into the mechanics of your game. Love the minimalist art; great job.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind comment! This is my 10th jam game since I started last year. One thing I’ve learned the hard way is how important tutorials and a smooth learning curve are. I’m really happy to hear that it came across in this game.

The game has an interesting concept and mechanics, but the repetitive music and sounds in the levels can be a bit annoying.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree the audio could use more variety. Sound design isn’t my strongest skill, so I’ll definitely try to improve it in future updates.
