Ok this game is good, I was legit smiling the entire time I was playing this game, very funny concept. The only time I wasn't smiling was when I realized there was no more silliness to vanquish, quite sad. Also I would very appreciate it if the cutscene and the wheel spinning animation were sped up. But other than that this was really fun, great job!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
pretty standard shooter game but it does everything super well! ended up downloading the windows version cause i realized shop didn't work in web, so i do with there was a way to skip the intro but thats just a nitpick.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. This was my first attempt at a shooter. :)
I randomly stumbled upon your dev log on yt and had to give it a try.
It's a cool concept, and the game just needs a little more polish.
I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but I noticed the movement doesn't seem to be normalized, so the player moves faster when going diagonally. That's an easy fix by applying .normalize() to the input vector.
Also, art-wise, since you chose a pixel art style, I'd try to stay consistent with it throughout the game and avoid using "mixels" (pixel art with different pixel sizes). I noticed the text isn't using a pixel font and cards in the gun have a smaller pixel size, which makes them feel a bit out of place.
And like others have already said, after a while the enemies run out or spawn too slowly. A system that ensures there are always around 15 silly enemies on the map could help, or simply increasing the spawn rate - maybe even making it ramp up over time to see how long the player can survive.
Thanks for the feedback! And thanks for telling me about .normalize(). I use it for the bullets, but to be honest I didn't fully know what it could do. :)
Cute silly but serious premise. Would love to see in the future slower reloading rate, more impactful effects when you shoot. Maybe the silly people won't do damage, but the ones that you turned want revenge. Something among those lines to add a little more to the gameplay. Great job though, keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback! :)
super enjoyable. only played it on web so i wasn't able to use the shop, but everythin else is very silly... ehm.. sorry i mean serious!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. :)
The art is nice and controls are solid. Unfortunate that the game menus aren't present in the web build but everything else worked fine. Not a big fan of the collision though. I would get stuck racing tightly around corners or walking too close to buildings which didn't feel great. Regardless, not a bad entry at all. Good Job!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I uploaded a Windows version where the shop actually works. :)
Oh my God. This could really be something like a horror game. I really liked the idea. It could be more than just a jam session. I liked that, while cheerful music plays, you’re literally killing all the fun on the map.
I DIDN’T LIKE THE SOUND AT THE BEGINNING—my tinnitus made me take off my headphones. Also, the visuals could be pixelated, but not quite so simple. Also font looks very standard
Overall, I liked it.
It’s hard to rate the game. I’ll give higher scores in some categories than I probably should have, I hope you’ll keep developing it
The idea is awesome.
Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm really glad you liked it. :)
i think it has a strong concept, especially in regards to this game jam. the silly theme definitely gets max serious points! the shooting is fun and i like the sound effects and music. the silly guys look cute too. i will say i don't think i can rate this fairly considering i can't access the shop right now. but i'll rate it based off what i have.
i like the story at the beginning, but in my opinion a mechanic similar to deltarune would be very strong for this. by that i mean skipping to the end of a text animation (not the end of the whole story) and then confirming if you want to proceed in the dialogue. if not this then just make the text animation faster and give the option to go to the next text with a button.
the gameplay as of now is lacking a bit, i think that's because the shop doesn't work on web right now so i wont say much on this. what i will say though is i feel the gun shoots too fast, the cooldown is too low and an ammo system would do the game good as a mechanic. i kinda like unloading and turning them serious though.
i didn't really find a way to die in the game so i felt no real threat. in this type of game it feels a bit odd without much of a threat. (i did get teleported to the starting location when i tabbed out though. didnt really lose progress)
the visuals could use work, but they're not bad don't get me wrong. i think that defining the roofs some more could make the game look a lot more pretty, like making very thin bricks at the top of the roof and then bigger ones at the bottom. i like the artstyle though other than that.
would building could be a bit better, it's a city but i think more props could do it well. this is more minor though imo because thats something you should do last (i've heard?). but i'll give you a few things i'd add i guess? street lights could be good, adding a few car props also, a bench or two in the park areas, maybe a few trees. it would help the world feel more alive
overall, i think this game is alright. but without the shop system and reload system it's just alright, if you do get those added though please let me know!
Wow. Thank you for all of that feedback. I really appreciate it. :)
Sorry to reply again only 20 minutes later, but your feedback is too good to pass up on. I've uploaded a Windows version where the shop actually works. I'd like to know what your feedback on that is if you have the time. Thanks again. :)
i like the shop system, it's nice. i like the upgrades, they're quite fun and intuitive. everything i said previously remains mostly relevant, though i'll also add the gameplay is a lot more fun with the upgrades.
i'll update the dying thing and say that i think it's too hard to die. i don't personally feel any real threat from the blue guys because i can either outrun them or just tank hits from them. i think this could be solved with making them shoot stuff maybe?
i also ran out of people to shoot, i think it would've been a good idea to make more silly guys spawn in.
i found something new that i didn't point out yesterday but i think that the sound effects for hitting an object such as a building and hitting a silly guy should be separate maybe? on this i also think it may be good to make the bullets not load offscreen, it's less satisfying when i shoot one of them offscreen versus onscreen imo.
the progression is good, i think the piercing upgrade is a little useless but the other ones i like. i think you should get more money from shooting the silly guys, it's kinda hard to get anything from the shop.
the ui for the shop is nice. i do think the shop cards could maybe have been made a little more papery, i dunno. that's more a personal stylistic preference.
Thanks so much for all of that! I really do appreciate it. :)
Very well written feedback! I totally agree. The game is really enjoyable (and satisfying), but it's missing the 'danger' part. Overall, great job!
