Really unique spin idea.

I don't know why, but I can really see this as a popular horror game that Youtubers will play. Great game and really satisfying!

Developer

Sent an email to Jerma, lets see what happens lol

Submitted(+1)

They're calling this game spaintacular!

Submitted(+1)

I am particularly proud of my green gyro. Extra healthy.

Submitted(+1)

Very serious. I enjoyed this take on the theme a lot and everything felt very responsive. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for producing some fine art!

The various audio for each of the different objects is such a nice touch!

It wasn't clear to me immediately that I just need to swipe the mouse left/right to spin the pillar. I was trying to go in circles and that wasn't working well. Once I figured that out everything felt good and responsive.

I think the spinning and painting mechanics work really well. It kind of feels like playing a some what cursed Splatoon.

Well done!

Developer

Thank you <3

Regarding the mouse spin, yea we kinda made you rotate the mouse in a circle at first, but that caused issues in the WebGL build so we decided to make it left/right movement. But then we got more WebGL issues of mouse going outside of the window and changed it to mouse delta, which should of worked with the circular motion, but it was too late to change…

This is an awesome submission! I loved how weird it was and the audio. Such a nice touch to adjust the pitch to the rotation. God work! :D

5 in everything, i am cooked, this game is acc so fun you should make it into a real game like a quota thing idk its really cool, the animations on the painting are so elegant but one thing i would say is the spinning wheel thing did kinda seem a lil janky i couldnt tell if it was supposed to be hard to spin or it was just hard to spin

Developer

Thanks for the play! We were considering with my bro if it should be hard to spin the crank or not. During dev I could hear him move his mouse like crazy when developing the mechanic and it seemed funny to leave it as is :D

Submitted(+1)

A very fun, and of course, VERY serious game. The GLORIOUS art will never stop! >8D

An interesting additional mechanic could be having to paint based on a reference image and earning points based on how closely your painting matches it. This would have added additional challenge to not only spin fast enough, but also to paint accurately enough to match the example.

But still the coolest theme idea I've seen so far, also the sounds are top notch. Hope to play this game in next rieves :D

Developer

You should try https://pazulay.itch.io/spaint, it does exactly that :D

Such a goofy game :) The spinning wheel seemed to be a bit wonky on a larger screen, but the sound effects of the creatures/objects were amusing. I like this!

Submitted(+2)

A really interesting concept of spinning the pedestal around to finish your masterpiece! The game is really funny too, I chuckled a couple times. I enjoy the controls too, feels satisfying to paint.

Developer

Thaanks Sooo much <3

A Masterpiece. An absolute masterpiece

Hey, this is the other Spaint composer; I saw your comment and tried out your Spaint as well. :) This feels super polished and I thought it was kinda funny we ended up getting 2 games of the same name. I liked all the silly extremely serious sound effects and I thought the painting mechanics were really unique. Cheers! :)

Developer(+1)

Ahh I just love how Spainting is bringing people closer together :D I think this should be a whole new game genre !!! Thanks for your review as always ! Here is food for thought, if spinning and painting is spainting, then maybe spinning and music is  Smusic or even Spusic? O,O

Submitted(+1)

Hmmm, I'll have to start indulging in Spusic lol, I could possibly learn so much!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool and complete feeling game!!

And a fun take on the theme!

Developer

Thanks you so much <3

Perfection. I like all the little ways the spinning adds to the atmosphere, distorting music and art alike. Its really nice to spin the crank by just inputting a right or left sweep but it took me a hot second to understand the visual discrepancy.

Developer

I was thinking the crank might throw of people, Was thinking what would be the best way to allow people to spin it fast, glad people understood it :D

this. this is art. you are artists. do not stop making games.

(my only wish is that the mouse pointing wasn't so jank over the easel specifically, picking up paintbrushes felt frustrating)

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you soo much! This is a massive encouragement for us ! If this game ever becomes even more serious we will be sure to look in to the jank issue with the interactions!

Submitted(+1)

I cannot believe that we named our games the same thing, yours is very polished and funny i enjoyed it a lot, check out ours if you fancy!

Developer

Holy cow, there will always be enough room for any number of Spaint games in my book :D, thanks for your review so much, gonna go and check out your game right now :D
