Hey everyone! I just thought I'd let y'all know that I spent the last couple of hours making an update that incorporates a whole bunch of everybody's feedback. Here are some of the changes you can expect once the jam ends and I can publish it.

Controls:
- Changed "start washer" to left click
- Changed "eject washer" to right click

UI:
- Fixed progress bars having low contrast
- Made the day summary screen match the rest of the UI

Gameplay:
- Customers no longer enter the laundromat once the day is 90% over. This should mean that, unless you get unlucky, you won't fail a customer's order just because the day ended.
- If it's your first time playing, you will now be forced to play the tutorial, even if you click the "Play" button on the main menu.

Thoughts from an exhausted person:

  • Mixing keyboard with mouse, especially a right-hand keyboard button is not ideal. You could have us simply click on the machine to activate it, or have a button to activate it that we click on
  • Mixing a right hand key (enter and backspace) with left-hand keys (Q) plus a mouse is also not recommended. Not ergonimic or intuitive.
  • Infitine t-shirts falling from the sky
  • The tutorial didn’t teach me how to paint the clothes. I recall having someone who asked for colored clothing in the first day, though.
  • It would be nice if it dinged and had a visual cue when the washing is done
  • I agree that the first day is too long
  • I’d like the countdown about customer’s patience to be clearer and with more contrast
  • I’d like to be able to grab several shirts at once
  • I’d like clothes to be folded in a specific place automatically when they leave a machine, because when I start planning in advance, they all just shoot out and become over each other, which means sometimes i need to take several out of the way to have enough target area to grab the one I want.
  • I’d like to see more sound effects.

I appreciate the feedback! I agree with a lot of this and I'll include a lot of it in the post-jam update I have planned.

This has a lot of promise! I really like the idea of turning it into a full puzzle game, like "what order do I need to do this laundry in in order to not mess up the customer's request?" That would be so slick! As it stands, I think the days are a bit too long, particularly early on when customers only want basic orders from one or two washing machines; it was only on Day 5 that I started to get a bit of variety (and failed an order!), so I'd consider shortening them to better improve the incremental complexity of the gameplay loop!

Developer

Sorry it was too easy for you! I should have probably added different difficulties. I had playtesters lose on just day 1 or 2 on these same settings, so I think you might just be more skilled or experienced with a variety of games!

The idea of it as a puzzle game did cross my mind. I definitely wanted there to be a puzzle element to it - I was hoping the orders would eventually get complex enough that you'd have to spend a fair amount of brainpower just working out what order you need to put the clothes in the washers. I could see it being fully puzzle-based too.

Thanks for playing and leaving a comment! The feedback is much appreciated.

I liked it a lot! The audio was very soothing.

Glad you had fun! It wasn't my favorite piece of music I've ever made so I'm glad people have seemed to enjoy it.

Relaxing game, took a while for me to get a grasp on everything, but the core idea is great.

Developer

Thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm happy to hear there's a learning curve. I hope it wasn't too frustrating at first!

This game is very clean! Here is my breakdown:

*Graphics

The art is nice, it communicates what it needs too.

*Audio

The music is subtle and relaxing, not bad.

*Design

This game is very stressful despite the relaxing music and setting, making the clothes before the timers run out is tough. i would like if the washing machines had buttons so I don't have to keep switching between keyboard and mouse. I would also like if the clothes got clean in one cycle, that way I can interact more meaningfully interact with the mechanics and not just spam clean. I still had a lot of fun though!

Overall I enjoyed playing this, keep it up!

Thanks for the thoughtful review! I really appreciate the useful feedback.

I definitely agree that making it mouse-only could have felt better to play.  It didn't meaningfully cross my mind until people started suggesting it.

The requirement to clean dirty clothes was meant to make getting the right products into a puzzle of sorts. I'm happy with where the mechanic ended up, and I think the fact that a washing machine could make your clothes more dirty is hilarious. What I think could have been potentially more exciting is if there were multiple possible starting washers, instead of just the downsize + clean one.  I do appreciate hearing that you had a gripe with the dirtiness mechanic! It gives me a good idea of what to consider in the future.

The game was very relaxing. And the idea was very interesting. It was a good game.

Very cool idea! I like how each machine does something different so you have to take a bit to understand what each action does in the game. I like the menu's and the consistent styling in the game. The main change I would make is some buttons on the machines themselves to make them run or to remove the clothes, that way someone could just keep their hand on their mouse. But super neat game overall!! Oh and thank you for an in game tutorial, super epic.

Developer

Thanks! I definitely considered making it playable with just a mouse but ultimately decided the screen would get too crowded with buttons. I would definitely at least add support for rebinding keys so the player can choose how they eject and start machines.

That is a very creative take on the theme! However, the tutorial was a bit fast and I didn't really have time to satisfy every customer while learning the game. Also, the end of the day was occuring at times that felt random to me, sometimes in the middle of an order, which was unsatisfying. I liked the fact that the clothes were not disappearing between each day, so I could prepare a lot of t-shirts!

Developer

I would definitely have made some more changes to how days start and end if I had more time. You can somewhat monitor the progress bar in the top left, but it can feel unforgiving.

Submitted

I like it, the music was relaxing as I was doing the laundry! The day bar could look different, but other than that great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! You're not the first to mention the progress bars. Would definitely make them contrast more.

Submitted

very unique,, could find myself playing it for a while LOL despite hating laundry irl

Developer

I'm so happy to hear that! Glad you had fun.

super fun and relaxing game! liked the variation in the washing machines and the background music is very good

Developer

Thank you! I made the music myself :)

Super fun game, and very challenging! I also like the 5/4 music! One note, the gray on gray progress bars were a bit difficult to read, it would have been easier with more contrasting colors.

Developer

I appreciate the feedback about the progress bars! I was a little worried that they might be too similar. I'd redo the whole art style if I were to make this again.

I was confused at first, but I played tutorial.
Machine converting size and clothing was Really fun idea and enjoyed it.

I'm glad you had fun! I definitely should have considered forcing the player to play the tutorial if it's their first time. Maybe I'll spend fifteen minutes to change that and resubmit.
