This was so relaxing & cute! I loved the music, and being a little figure skating penguin was a lot of fun. Like the others, I was also a bit confused by the controls and wish there was more clarity as to how the scoring works, but this is a really cool start!

This was very cute!

I really like the music composed here, especially some good ol' marimba in the mix!

I have loved the idea of penguins and ice skating for a long time and this was a lovely visual to see it reflected in (I did not like the very serious judge giving me bad ratings XD)

Despite the instructions in the bio, I don't know if I fully realized the controls or not (like stopping). Additionally, I wish there was a UI screen that popped up after being scored rather than just hitting the reset button in the corner.

Well done and good job, I had a good time!

Happy you liked it, and thanks for the feedback :)

You're completely right that the controls aren't great, I definitely underestimated the time it takes to come up with and implement an intuitive control scheme.

Also, I'm so happy you liked the music! I rarely really compose anything and it's something I'd like to work on, so it means a lot.

Fun idea! I had a hard time getting hang of the mouse control and would have liked to know where the penguin was going. Also would have been cool to see some points rack up as I did some spins. Great art!

Oh, to be a penguin skating away, it was very pleasant to spin to the music. Brilliant idea if I could say so myself!

Such joy to see a fellow ice skater, and even a wizard at that!

The penguins are cute and the spin animation is great. I wasn't quite sure how my mouse was defining the skate path. Would be fun to have a combo points counter that shows you scoring points while you spin and jump.

The art is nice and I think figure skating is a pretty unique idea for a game jam. The music was fine but I think have some different music choices would be fun. You could also maybe add some different moves as well (spinning in place for example). Overall neat game idea as execution. Nice job.

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it :)

I really wanted to have different music choices as well, but I ran out of time unfortunately.

Spinning in place is actually possible, it's just poorly communicated (click and hold for a bit to move to some spot and stop there).

The penguins are very cute and the movement feels somewhat smooth.

I wish there was more to it, like you got some kind of rating for your ice skating, as in it's current state, you can skate and not much happens. Overall, a great start to a game as I love ice skating so was cool to do it in a game!

I think the artstyle is very cute and the music is super tranquil. Unfortunately, the controls could have been better communicated and the rating system isn't explained. Overall, good game but just improve communication between the player so that they have a better understanding of what to do.

Thanks :)

I know the controls are far from intuitive, but even so I spent more time on that than on anything else I think, it used to be far worse. But unfortunately I just didn't have as much time as one should spent on an event this serious and important ^^

As for the rating, I initially wanted the crowd to give some reactions to what you do to give you some feedback. I agree that this is something that should be improved, though on the other hand I never intended the rating to be the focus of the game. At one point I almost replaced it with an RNG.
