Interesting game. The hallway was way different gameplay than the boss fight. The hallway fight is very dizziness inducing but i was able to complete it! The bullet hall boss fight I thought i was doing well but then it got to a phase where I was not able to damage the boss at all and died. Good job on game though, keep it up!
For the first phase of the game: Its basically a shooting range minigame and thats fun. The spinning room makes me a little bit dizzy, but its not that terrible to be unplayable. It gets worse with faster mode (deciding demage the core more).
The boss fight is a classic bullet hell, which is also fun. Yet some juice could be added. Even small things like red flash and some sound effect when getting hit would do the game a big favor.
It is a pitty that the gamme can't be finished because of the bug with immmortal boss.
Good job releasing your game!
Okay! I have alot to say about this game! First off, the first bossfight was fun! I enjoyed the undertale bullet hell style.
I liked the humor, the beginning note and story sounded interesting.
For visuals, weakening the cores hurt my eyes a bit, and the game feels unfinished as alot of the assets don't seem to be fully done (white backgrounds, ect).
For audio, I enjoyed the music choice alot! But this game could've benefitted from SFX tremendously, and their absence is felt.
I unfortunately couldn't keep playing after the first phase of the boss, he wouldn't take any damage and I got softlocked. I think leaning into one core aspect (like the bullet hell boss-fights) would have helped this game, it seems unfinished with bugs and a lack of polish.
However, I still want to congratulate you for submitting this and making a fun bullet hell system! Given time to fix game-breaking bugs and flesh out visual/audio, this could be a fun game! Good job gamer. :D
Yeah, if you haven't read any other reviews, others had the same problem with the hp not moving and I already found the reason, when I was beta testing, I made him lose 50 hp per shot when I wanted 5. When I changed the code back for the normal version, I accidentally got rid of the 5 instead of 0. The game had some more stuff after that (two whole endings) that werent seen because of that.
Ah, I see. Super unfortunate. You can still update it after the jam tho! So thats good!
Updating my take: changed browsers from Safari to OperaGX and I actually get the audio now. Quite good tbh. Boss is still unkillable so the game is in an unfinished state.
What part of the boss didn't work? Phase 1 or 2. I playtested a bit and it worked for me
nevermind, I saw what it was. I had a beta version that makes it do 50 damage per shot and when I wanted to put it back at 5 instead of 50, I got rid of the 5 and made it 0 by mistake......
This feels more like "compulsion to spin" than "spin to win" when weakening the cores, and it felt a little tedious but bearable. The actual boss fight was decent, with the phases, the attacks, bullets to dodge everywhere.. t'was not bad till I drained their HP to 0 and then for some reason the boss respawned with an HP bar that never goes down. Also for some reason I got no sound on the game page even though there's one comment right below praising the soundtrack. Could be my browser or the project, idk. But for now it feels unfinished unless I missed something. I even tried to replay and destroy 2 cores, the second HP bar of the boss simply doesn't go down.
Nice idea, the soundtrack is a absolutely banger!
If you would build up on that concept, add bullets, hit animations, points, increasing difficulty, weapons, upgrades..etc.. you could build something pretty addictive i am sure.
Well done!
