never expected this was made in scratch, great job! hope to see more!
how did bro know
XD the variable names lol
I really liked the idea, and the tutorial was hilarious. lol
I'm really bad at rythm games, but I still managed to score 139 (probably not that great but not that bad I guess). I was happily surprised by the voice over in the tutorial, that's a nice touch (but even in the tutorial I somehow missed some bullets). For the balancing I found the pink bullets to be way too difficult to parry. I suggest you put your high score in the description it could motivate people to try to beat it, and give somewhat of a score reference
i really love how fast paced the gameplay is and it requires very high focus it actually reminds me of a game i used to play on playstation the human voice speaking directly to the player is an amazing touch and it feels so immersive overall amazing effort and keep it up
This is pretty solid! I wish there were more levels, but the one that's there had me plenty engaged trying to increase my score (I eventually managed 205!).
The visuals here are quite simplistic. This isn't a bad thing—I love me a game with are simple, low-shading art style—but there are a couple of improvements you could make to really sell it. I would suggest removing the outlines and making each object a single color (think games like Baba Is You or SNKRX). So long as the colors contrast well with the background (e.g., make sure they're not too bright if you're using a white background), they'll still be readable while also being a lot cleaner. I'd also suggest going for light sprites on a dark background rather than dark sprites on a light background; the latter risks looking like you just didn't put any thought into it, especially if it's pure white.
As for gameplay, I found it fun! The blue and black bullets are straightforward; no comments there. The pink ones have way stricter timing than I'd anticipated, but I eventually learned that timing and was able to start raising my score. My only sticking point is the split bullets. You have to hit them with the very edge of your cursor to hit them. If they so much as breathe in the general direction of the middle, they'll go through. This is fine, but the visuals don't communicate this clearly at all. It looks like the cursor wings should be like solid walls that can stop the split bullets, but the bullets will routinely pass through the wings if part of them is touching the box. I think you could fix this by maybe coloring the tips of the wings gray (or a different color and then making the split bullets match) and having those tips block split bullets—no nonsense about not touching the box.
I also love that the tutorial is just you talking normally, but it does drag on after a while. Do the same thing in future projects, but pick up the pace!
The concept is so cool, I would love to see more levels and would play more if there were more levels (which is a sign of a good game :D)
I would say that the level you currently have is very difficult as the only level that you have. I'd love to start with a slower, much easier level and then work up to that track or sounds.
Great work though, I really enjoy this concept for sure!
Thank you! I didn't think this game was that great so I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
