Incredible potential in this one! I particularly loved the skidding mechanic which could really help the player feel the weight of the mech. I also love how you created an operation manual for the mech, even though it’s all light on content.

We need more games like this. I hope you continue to develop it because I think it could be really fun to play in a fully fleshed out combat scenario

Did you *procedurally* animate those legs? If so, holy cow, nice work. Nice work either way. Climbing up stairs was slower, but was also really satisfying to see. I agree with an earlier comment - if you have some kind of combat scenario that took place on a hillside in a forest-y setting, this thing would shine visually so much.

The explosions from the 85mm rounds looked great - I think the autocannon would do really well with a more subtle tracer round VFX and a punchier (and louder) SFX. I'll also second that I found the autocannon more difficult to aim with - not sure why; it might be because the reticle was a little floaty, or sensitivity was high, or the bullets are actual projectiles - not sure which it was. I also noticed that if you initiated a slide, you could slide indefinitely by holding that movement direction - it'd be interesting to try this as it gets more and more dialed-in, as I think these kinds of movement mechanics + animations are super juicy.

Very strong start, nice work! The tutorial worked just fine as a game loop for submission purposes IMO. I had a good time just running around and clearing the vehicles. Of course, a real scenario would go hard. Best of luck, and great submission!

It's a shame; it doesn't install with the itch io app. (that is the most practical to test exe entries)

Tutorial level is cool ! Well constructed; voice acting is really good for the atmosphere! Doing a spider mech is very ambitious, I like that very much ^^ Horizontal jump is a bit strange, did you do it on purpose or is it because deadline was too tight? Also, there is something to do with the skidding as a mechanic, but it is simple at the moment, you can not really control it? I really enjoyed the construction of the first level!  Third person really work well with this kind of mecha design. Refreshing!

The mecha movements are dope! Well done on that. As you described, it was the main focus. I did really like the mini game where you need to destroy vehicles as fast as possible. Was really fun. There is a lot of potential in a rocky mountain battleground or some hilly forest of some kind. Might be missing a bit of post-processing to make the visuals pop, and maybe some juice around the flying disks when hit, and spatialized sound when they are shot so we know where they come from.

You did a great job on mecha animations. Tho it's quiet hard, I could barely heat any of those flying disks and no idea if there's something next to it, but the first impression's that it's quiet funny (the narattor brings something to the ambiance).

Ultimate shagohod battle simulator !

Ok jokes aside this is incredible, i was curious about this one early on, though i was afraid it would be leaning towards a very realistic sim like playstyle, and i was pleasantly surprised finally playing it to see the gameplay is just the right balance between some sim elements and a very arcade easy to pickup and play but difficult to master kinda deal :D

The mech design itself is really cool and the procedural animation for the legs is quite impressive. In terms of visuals i really dig that you went the extra mile of making the hud like actual gauges on the vehicle’s dashboard it really adds to the immersion, i also liked that you sorta pulled a Metal Gear by having your very sci fi mech be in a grounded more realistic military context facing conventionnal tanks and armored transports, i can only add extra believability points for making the mech a Russian vehicle cause that kind of crazy engineering absolutely fits their vehicles XD

Gameplay wise the skidding mechanic is really what adds the extra spice to it all i.m.o and it’s so satisfying to run, skid, and use the momentum to strafe and shoot a target while moving, so cool ! In a way the movement kinda reminded me of the old Ghost in the Shell Ps1 game where you contol a manned version of the Tatchikoma tanks.

Had so much fun trying this one out, congrats and well done ^^

I really enjoyed playing this, I think that you've done a really good job of capturing that momentum-driven movement that we see in 86 within the constraints of a game jam. Even though I was only shooting at static targets, it gave me the experience of blowing up a tank with a single high-powered shot whilst skidding sideways, and there's not much more that I want from life.

If you wanted to continue working on the game, I'd like to see more to really sell the weight of the machine. Things like jostling the hull up and down as it runs and having it lean into turns would go far here.

I really like this one.  I wish there were more to play! Honestly it controls very well, it's quite intuitive, I like the way momentum is handled and skidding is available manually. Both guns handle how you'd want them to.  Doing a whole tutorial with (actually quite good) voice acting is super cool, I rarely see that in a jam game!  Unfortunately that's where the game ends other than the clay pidgeon mode.  I messed around in it for a bit but I wanted more expansive levels in the vein of the tutorial, but with real enemies etc.  As for the graphics, I think the models in there for the main mech and the vehicles look fantastic, have that mid 00s vibe, but there's not much else present.

Beyond more content, the main thing I felt was missing was sfx (and some vfx/juice). Even just a stompy sound and  grinding sound for sliding would have gone a long way. I can definitely imagine this fleshed out into a bigger game, I wish you luck if you choose to do that!

btw the fake operational manual is a great touch, I love it

Pretty fun! I love 86, i think you made a quite good model. Crossover with old russian military style is actually quite fitting. Good work!
