I never thought I'd see another Rubik's Cube in this jam! This is really cool, but I think the only problem I have with these puzzles is that I'm too dumb. I completed all the levels, but that was mostly through floundering around aimlessly. Just by the nature of it being a Rubik's Cube, there are so many decisions that the player can make at any time that it becomes incredibly difficult to plan anything out unless you're really familiar with these kinds of puzzles. I tried to make my game a level-based puzzler like this with the Rubik's Cube, but I couldn't figure out how to make it easier to understand besides making it a smaller cube, so I made it a more arcade-y game. When there's so much information to process (all the different tiles and how you can interact with them), and so many decisions you can make with that information (rotating the cube), it becomes near impossible to come up with a multi-step solution unless you're a mad genius, or you painstakingly go through each possible move. It felt like the complexity of thinking through the puzzle as intended grew exponentially with how many moves were required to solve the puzzle. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed and give up on thinking through the puzzle methodically. I still had a ton of fun playing around with the cube until I found a solution though, so clearly it's not that big of a problem. Feel free to disagree with this ramble, I've just been thinking about this a lot because my game has the exact same issue. There's a solid chance that I'm just terrible at these puzzles, and none of this is actually a problem haha. I hope you turn this into a full game, I'd love to play it!
Truely unique! Very cool design and idea! Music is fitting perfectly as well!
awesome game! I love this art style. Very polished and clean
Level 6 is definitely bugged. There were placed I could move that had barriers, and places I could not move that did not have barriers.
I love this idea! Especially in the later levels where I had to use some brainpower, moving the cube around and finding my route was so satisfying. I'm not sure how scalable this is to a longer-length game, but everything else about it was very professional... graphics, sound, polish (except for the error mentioned above).
I'd love to see this expanded if you can find a way to scale up the difficulty and intricacy of the puzzles. For example, if matching rows of terrain caused them to change in some way, and if you could terraform/activate different parts of the cube to remove different barriers. Add some more puzzle layers to this, and it could be a published game,
Great game, really fun just not sure if it was bugged at the last level but I could walk in places with no tiles and to reach to goal the guy walked through a tree and a lake to get there. Also couldn't cross to some tiles, I guess it's a visual bug but all the other levels worked fine and were hard. Just would have been nice to rotate the camera to see the backside as sometimes I lost where I left the exit (maybe I could but I missed it?)
Yeah, sometimes after rotation game miscalculates the position of triggers. I still didn't find out why so I made a little delay but I guess it doesn't really help. Maybe I just misplaced some triggers. Also you have that small minimap at the top left corner, you can rotate it by pressing 1-6, I saw a lot of similar comments so I know it's not really obvious. Well, thanks for feedback
This is pretty cool, a nice usage of the theme. The puzzles are fairly well made as well. Good job!
Very well made! Love the art and puzzles. Keep making games!
WOW, THIS IS AMZING, good art, sounds, details and everything! The puzzles are really cool! I would pay for this game!
Wow, this is genuinely such a great puzzle game. I noticed some bugs in the last level though - I couldn’t jump on some of the squares, but I could walk into some trees and rocks. But regardless, it’s super polished, and I’d enjoy playing a lot more of it.
This is so polished looking for a jam game. The art looks very clean!
One of the best inclusion of the topic! I had a lots of fun to solve the levels!
Very well made! I think having rubix experience came in handy
This was a fascinating puzzle game. The core game mechanic was pretty straightforward, but I still had to stop and think about each puzzle in order to solve them. It pushed me to think in 3 dimensions, while still feeling fairly intuitive. It took my a little bit to figure out how best to use the mini-map, but, when I did, I found it to be a useful tool.
There were times when I wanted to rotate the whole cube to see it from a different angle. Using the mini-map helped, but it wasn't quite the same as being able to move the whole cube around.
It wasn't always clear what things would block my path and what things wouldn't. There were a few times where it looked like my path was clear but I couldn't move forward. Other times it looked like the path was blocked but I could move forward. I most acknowledged it on Level 6, when I was able to walk onto the water tiles on my starting block and on some, but not all, of the rock and tree tiles of neighboring blocks. On the mini-map, some of the spaces I could walk on did not look like they had a tile, but it did show the arrows to indicate I could move there when I was on a neighboring tile.
This was a really clever use of the theme. Using a Rubic's Cube as the base to rotate and shift the game field was fun.
