Nice work - everything appeared to work as intended and I ran into no bugs (I guess someone else found one lol). I agree with the idea that the premise and the provided scenarios work well as a tutorial for something more if you wanted to push for it. You differentiated the different player mechs well visually and mechanically; good job on the sprites, and for a first pass on balance, I feel like this is pretty good if a little bit easy. With more time, you could have death animations for each model, and maybe some more SFX (I see those weren't credited - did you make them? Just asking - good job if so, I know a lot of people shy away from it if it isn't their thing).

Initially I felt like the pacing was a little slow when the enemy was making its moves; like I wanted a button to be able to speed up the AI portion, but that might be a modern brain problem and actually the pacing is something to be relaxed into, since eventually I feel like I kind of did. I'm not sure if this makes sense in the genre, but I could see a little unit-specific progression system or options for different player units per-scenario being interesting ways to increase player expression in the game. Nice work on a fun submission! This type of game seems like an interesting platform for different ways to challenge the player at a different pace than a lot of other games do.

Nice, thanks so much for the feedbacks!

I actually made the enemy stats a bit lower compared to the player's to make it easier, but if it felt too easy, I'll try tweaking it again.

And no, the SFX are also from OpenGameArt. I actually forgot to put them, so I'll update the game page later, thanks for the reminder.

All of your suggestions does make a lot of sense, especially unit progression system. I have some idea about it, but nothing concrete yet, and the speed up button is definitely a good option to have.

Cool Advance wars style strategy game !

I really liked the verious units and their designs, i also really like how your whole game in it’s jam version could serve as the tutorial for what you could build upon it later, since your different current missions cover all the possible scenarios (i assume) a player could encounter into a campaign mode that took the battles out of the simulator.

Honestly solid entry i don’t know what i could say more, well done :)

Hi, thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
And yeah, you are correct, those are the possible scenarios that I planned (For now) :D

Cool i’m sure it can only go better from here and see how these scenarios play on the “battlefield” compared to the training sim :)

Developer

Ahaha, hopefully, thanks!

Pretty cool game with a really strong foundation

I found a bug where I can just keep using the Action command while the animation was playing to do a lot of damage to the enemies.

Something to add would be the ability to zoom the camera in and out to see the battle field easier.

Otherwise I had no issues, and found the different mission types to be enjoyable.

Developer

I didn't even realize that was possible, guess I forgot to change the states, ahaha
And got it, zoom feature sounds good as well, I'll consider that.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the game.

Hey this is really well done, your battle system is solid and easy-to-learn! I did immediately find a bug/cheese which makes the entire game trivial: when you go to confirm your attack, you can continue pressing inputs.  At first I thought this was just playing sfx (like if you press up/down it plays the menu sounds still) but no, you can in fact just spam Z to do your attack repeatedly until the enemy is dead. So any unit can kill any enemy in a single turn.

Anyway the sprites look nice and the battle system is solid, you did great work for a solo jammer! Nice work.

Developer(+1)

Ah, you're right, I didn't even realize that was possible.

Thanks so much for discovering the bug, and glad you enjoyed the game :D

I really liked how you could move both camera and units freely. I think it's much better than a grid-based system. The units are also quite cute)

I should say though that it would be more comfortable to know what units will make the turns and when. Also I couldn't quite tell how much damage exactly everyone would take or deal.

But apart from that it was fun) A solid entry 👍

Awesome, thanks so much, glad to hear that :D
Yep, I was planning a turn order UI and damage numbers, but didn't quite make it. Will try to implement that next time.

I like a good tactical mech game! It looks good, music choice is great, and moving in circular areas for range is interesting! Here are 2 constructive criticisms on the gameplay:

- I felt the need to know in which order the mechs will play ! Some kind of visual indication is necessary.

-When I move, don't see the range of my weapons, hence I take a risk when deciding where to stop; there should be a visual indication of my weapons range when I move to solution that.

Keep it up! Would love to play more of it.

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
Regarding the feedback

1. True, I was planning on implementing a turn order UI, but ran out of time. Will definitely be the next priority.

2. Make sense, that is a really good idea, I'll consider that.
