I really enjoyed playing this! Very cute and fun, would be cool if it got harder later into the game but overall great job!!
Really creative idea in your game! I just wish there were more stressful stuff in the hard mode, like having to season my steaks alongside keeping the temperature right, or something. Overall great experience :)
Love the original mechanics and coziness here. Spot on for a jam entry.
Original music and graphics too. Main track just scream “serious”, whatever that means.
I took inspiration from your tutorial. Admittedly you kept the mechanics simple, to your credit.
I got 12k but didn’t know what I was doing for the first 20s or so.
good mechanic! I think it would be better if the difficulty increased gradually
for example, starting with just one and then slowly increasing the amount
Nice and simple gameplay! I liked that we can spin the knobs fast as well which provides a room of improvement. While playing it, i thought of a cool visual feedback, maybe when a pan has a matching color, score points can come out of it like it's sizzling, which could give a satisfying success feedback during the round and motivate the player.
Awesome stuff! I don't think it's too hard at all! The main difficulty was figuring out which burner I was selecting. I really enjoyed this, I just wish that the difficulty ramped up more over time. You could maybe start out with four steaks, and slowly add in more burners to manage.
My score was 12460. Really liked this idea was super unique and I enjoyed it. The knobs could've been closer to their respective steak was a little confusing at first which steak I was changing the heat of
Appreciate the tutorial for a jam but it overwhelmed me, so I just started it and got it quite fast that way as you made it intuitive :) Nice idea that fit the theme. Would like some more feedback from the steak itself when getting it wrong/right as that's the focus. Also, the song is a vibe!
I tried the tutorial but it still took me a little bit to understand. I like the concept though and it's definitely challenging to balance all the temperatures at the same time
Wow this game was so fun! It took a little bit to understand but once you get in the groove of things it was absolute peak. I think if you added like a day system and had a long game loop I could be addicted for several several hours. Amazing work!! One thing I think the targeting of the knob felt a little too precise? I had to try multiple times to be able to start spinning the right knob each time. But seriously amazing work here absolutely loved it!
Very Serious Steak Cooking Simulator is a fun little warioware styled game where you cook steaks to perfection by adjusting the burners to the desired temperature shown beside the pan.
I love the concept! Good idea, decent execution, great music! The timer is just long enough to get the swing of things while ensuring the game doesn't overstay its welcome. 4 Steaks at once is just the right amount with the time given per steak.
A bit of (hopefully) constructive criticism:
-It can be a little difficult to initially determine how to use the controls. Looking back, I know the tutorial states what to do, but on my first try it still took me a little bit to figure it out. I defaulted to trying to interact with the pans instead of the cursor and initially wondered if the mouse detection was off, but that's on me. I would recommend maybe trying to declutter the tutorial page a little bit, maybe split it into 2 pages? Like a good powerpoint, a good tutorial page should have minimal text and should naturally draw the eyes to the important information needed to interact with the game.
-The game interaction kind of comes in waves of panic, then waves of stillness. I would recommend having the steaks showing up of the burners at interspersed intervals to remove the up and down of interaction with the game.
Overall a great game to be proud of. Great job!
Took me a bit to realize which dials went with which burners, but since there is an outline that shows up, that may just be user error...
