What theme and how have you integrated the theme in your game?
Theme: Fantasy & Corruption

How it has been integrated into the game:

The theme of corruption has been implemented both visually and mechanically as a direct gameplay element, rather than just a cosmetic backdrop:

Visual and Level Design:
The game takes place in an ancient fantasy dungeon where the topology represents an inescapable maze. The level architecture uses custom pixel-art brick textures mixed with a 3D low-poly environment to build a claustrophobic space where light and shadow represent the spread of the corruption.

Malfunctioning Flashlight:
The player's primary tool is a defective flashlight that randomly flickers and fails. This mechanical instability forces the player to navigate the dark environment in short bursts of vision, amplifying the tense feeling of being hunted by the corrupted entities.

Dynamic Audio Corruption:
The most direct integration of the theme is the procedural audio system. When the player looks in the general direction of the enemy monster, the level's corruption triggers a colateral effect: the background music instantly breaks down, distorts, and speeds up. This turns the audio into a radar-like mechanic, warning the player that danger is near and they need to run.

Scaled Scope:
To deliver a polished experience within the 7-day limit, the core gameplay loop focuses entirely on survival and evasion. Rather than fighting, the player must manage their stamina, read the environment, and use the dynamic audio cues to escape the maze before the entity catches them.

Does your game qualify for category: "Best Use of Godot"?

The web build is playable but had no sound and the 'Play Again' cannot be clicked so I tried downloading it. I played it but after I died, since it swallows the mouse cursor, I had to force close the game with a keyboard shortcut to get out.

Kinda unplayable on my end sadly. Would have been nice to play cause the audio sounds cool.

Developer

Sorry about that bad experience, we are improving the user experience for the next project

Sure sure sure. Tell me when it updates

The game constantly takes place in complete darkness, where you can literally see nothing. The lack of information about what’s going on is made worse by the fact that the Web build can’t be expanded to fullscreen for some reason. The music seems to do its job, but all other sounds are absent. But there’s a problem with the music too: they forgot to enable looping, so when it reaches the end, the game goes completely silent. The frog-people with their strange animation aren’t scary — they rather evoke a mix of bewilderment and laughter. Besides, they apparently can’t even deal damage to the player — to take damage, you have to purposefully bump into them. What you’re supposed to do is unclear. I just walked for less than a minute through pitch-black darkness, after which I got a message saying I’d won. Along with the victory message, there was a “Play again!” button, but no matter how many times I clicked it — nothing happened. And there are zero-thickness walls scattered throughout the level too.

I also forgot to mention the crates. You can place crates with E. The main character is probably a crate factory, because I can’t otherwise explain where he gets so many of them. Though I still didn’t understand what these crates are even for. The best use I came up with was to box myself into a corner with them and softlock the game that way.

Thx for playing, your comments are very precise, I will improve environment next time

I really like  the atmosphere. The gameplay is lacking and its not very clear what the goal is. The  malfunctioning flashlight was annoying,    in a good way. Also, I'd recommend updating your description to include the win or lose conditions.

Developer

Thx I will look how to explain the game in the next project

Submitted

Well, it's generally fine, the atmosphere is conveyed. I hope you'll get better and better in the future!)

Developer

Thank you, now I'm starting to notice what people want to see in these types of projects, in the future I will make a better experience for the player:)

Nice little game! I like the concept. My issue with it is that it's a bit hard to figure out what exactly you're supposed to do? It kind of just feels like I'm wandering around in a (very aesthetic) pointless maze. Definitely might be good to add a little information at the beginning. Great vibes though, I really love the flashing lights and changing audio! Lots of potential here.

Thank you for playing! I'm taking notes for the next project:)

So is it actually possible to win or lose? Near as I could tell I was caught by the monster and there was no repercussion at all.  nor is there any sign you could win, or at least no hint of what that would mean.

graphically/theme wise you did a good job tho.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing my game! Yes, you can win if you explore every part of the maze dungeon, there's a goal that the green monsters are protecting from you to enter. This is one of my first projects on godot, I'll try to implement more UI help so next time the player doesn't feel too lost at the beginning

Submitted

with the lights turning off all the time it's super hard to keep track of where you are, IDK if "explore all the dungeon" is a realistic goal.

Developer(+1)

You are right. I just didn't thought of anything better at the moment. I will think on a more achievable goal for the player.

Hello, I think something's wrong with your build. There was hardly any audio at all and when it finally came, I was already right at the exit - so audio is a rather useless clue here. The enemy AI and player health as well as obstacle system is incredibly buggy. Playing this game with a mouse is pretty much a pain as you cannot go into fullscreen mode (and if you could I hadn't seen any of it) so that you literally have to circle around the embedded game window with your mouse to go at the other end again if you want to do a whole turn.

I know that there can be problems with exporting, but you submitted 2 days before the deadline. Please test enough next time so you don't lose votes to technical difficulties! I bet your game would have been great!

The idea of a corrupted flashlight is pretty cool though. I would have loved to see that in its final form.

Developer

Hi, thanks for trying my game! I added a build for Windows or Linux, I will investigate why the browser don't lock the mouse right at the start,  as a "patch" I added builds for Windows and Linux, to play the game as it was originally intented. We will work more on AI pathfinding, so our next project will have a more immersive creature. I will also see how to improve the UI, sorry for that too,

Ah, yes, that's so much better now!
