I love me some vampire survivors so I had fun with this but I didn’t like the main attack. It took me a couple rounds to figure out you could aim with the mouse. The aiming wasn’t clear because of how these survivors clones usually work, and because the attack sprite sort fo just spawns out of nowhere rather than moving out from the players body.
The combat also felt a bit lifeless without feedback from hitting enemies or getting hit. A simple color change for when you take damage or hit enemies would have been an effective way to improve player feedback.
Art and music were great, I liked the environment and the mech character although sometimes enemies would shoot you from behind the buildings which felt unfair.
Solid submission. With more progression, and more enemy types, it would just get even better. Nice work!
Some notes - the game got waaaay easier once I found out the mouse aims the attacks. I agree that even a very inconspicuous compass-like pointer on the player character indicating attack orientation would be a huge help for a new player. On the boss - can it actually die? I'm 7 minutes in and I've been swiping at it for some time, now. I'm assuming just getting to the boss constitutes the win? It's good you managed to get a second enemy type in the game in addition to the boss, and it's also cool the boss actually has a special attack. The parallax effect with the building background is nice - actually the sprites in general are well-done, the player character looks good - as I was running around in circles swiping, for some reason I took a special liking to the way the boundary buildings are presented. The ground also looks like something bad happened here...
Lotta fun! Nice mech designs, good animations, cool level.
Couple things to take it up a level: it wasn't immediately clear to me I had to target with the mouse, I kinda thought it was just attacking in a random direction. Maybe an arc or arrow that follows the mouse around even when not attacking would give more feedback. And a bunch of times I thought I had just enough room to squeak through but ended up taking damage.
Great job!
A lot of fun playing this game. Cool project :) Maybe it starts too quickly.
I really dig the graphics and this style of game, and really wanted to have a great time, but the range and direction of the default attack was a complete blocker, despite multiple attemps, I couldn't to any progress :/
Cool “Survivors” style game.
I really liked the fact that you can orient your auto attacks with the mouse (not that much familiar with the genre so i don’t know if it’s something other survivors do or not) and the fact that you can have a hp regen and shield upgrade really helps early on.
The spritework is really good both mech and enemy designs are interesting.
This really reminded me of the old Newgrounds days this game has a similar kinda vibe !
Well done to you all :)
it would make a perfect die and retry thing for android devices i think, kinda smooth and minimalistic enough. Tho i can't say anything more cause I barely survive 30 seconds, close to a minute at best, I guess surviving 5 minutes is actually an interesting challenge and I'm nooby, but that's great job, the thing you could add would be more like .. "juice effect" cause there's barely any kind of feeling.
Not bad! I like the animation of the player.
I think a lot of polish could be helpful. Maybe some control over the attacking, and less of a chance to get injured from a pixel of contact. I also think one big thing would be the visuals, being the consistency of the pixel sizing.
I also wanted to add that it's highly unlikely that a player will last 5 minutes of your game, as attention span is very short.
Other than that, the music is nice, and this game certainly has potential!
Mecha Cure reminds me of vampire survivors. I like the character and environment design. I ended up getting sucked into the game for quite some time. Very fun. One thing that I did not really like about it was that the enemy can shoot you before you see them on screen, and they are REALLY fast. Really nice work on this!
