Despite the horror mood, I really wouldn’t call this anything extreme.
This seems well made, and I am really interested in how you used a previous project as a base for this.
I suggest adding new rules, like having an opponent be a cheater that once you learn them they can be beaten.
Please change this so the game opens on a screen that does not have audio - I know it seems polished and professional however I disagree and should be easy to design that way.
Thanks for your comment. I'll keep it in mind to improve it after the jam. The base was an unfinished chess game (because I love chess) and I just had to change the opponents, code Tic-Tac-Toe, and add scenes and dialogues.
Before noting
The game’s concept is really creative, and considering the development time of 2 hours and 53 minutes, it’s impressive work. However, the game’s thumbnail and likely the game itself seems to have been created using AI, despite the claim that no generative AI was used. Perhaps I’m mistaken and AI wasn’t involved in the development, but the thumbnail and background definitely look AI-generated.
Thanks for your comment, when I said there was no AI I was talking about the code, but the content and the thumbnail, I’ve mentioned it several times on Discord, in the comments, and in the description.
Oh my bad. Thanks for clarifying this. You should still say that you used generative AI for the main menu's background in game. If it was just the thumbnail then it would have been alright but it isn't just the thumbnail.
Besides the fact that everything in the game window is way too small, thankfully you can zoom in, and that my French is more than a little rusty, it's still a very challenging game. For 2 hours and 53 minutes, it's a really solid experience.
Thanks for the reply!
Just a small tip: itch.io actually has its own fullscreen button if you enable it in the game page settings. That way players don't have to open the in-game settings first (or zoom in because the game starts out pretty small).
Also, since you're already supporting two languages, I'd recommend making English the default language. It will probably be more accessible for most players on itch.io.
Other than that, I really like the idea! The 10 levels with 10 different tactics is a cool concept. The only thing I'd say is that it can feel a bit hard or demotivating if you have to start from level 0 every time. Maybe some kind of level select or checkpoint system could help in the future.
Overall, though, it's a cool game. Keep it up!
