WOW that was amazing! You absolutely nailed the atmosphere and overall vibe. idk if it was the lighting, the voice acting, or the vfx of the onscreen monitors, but this felt very nostalgic for some reason. I was completely immersed in the game, listening to your voice guiding me on how to control the mech. The only criticism I have is that rotating the camera view felt awkward because you could only do it (very slowl) while the mech was moving. It made more sense in combat as it added to the tension and forced me to plan out my movements rather than just aiming with the mouse, but outside of combat it felt difficult to control. Maybe the cruise mode should have significantly increased the turn speed.
I’m very impressed with the voice acting btw. It kinda sounded like you were trying to whisper the lines which made the final result sound a bit eerie and mysterious. The rear view monitor was also a standout detail that really increased the immersion. It looked like it had a lower framerate and motion blur which made it look awesome as you moved around the terrain.
Great attention to detail and overall polish!
Thanks A lot! I am so happy that it felt that way. I am glad the voice acting was better than I expected. Honestly it's just my friends that kept telling me I can make so many kinds of voices and accents, that I should try it, so I decided to write some lines. The named characters are actually part of a game I am making. So that voice might return, maybe more polished. But I am really happy you liked it.
For the rotation, yeah...movement tech is still in progress, Barricor is essentially a company that makes heavy machinery, that are sluggish and slow, it's why quick turn boost is a thing, if turning takes time, you can quickly snap a turn. But there are other factions with more nimble mechs.
Thanks again for playing my game and leaving a comment!
It's a shame it doesn't install with the itch io app, it is handy for .exe games.
Really cool and immersive, congratulations ! The mech physics are logical, and I like the very small view window that puts emphasis on the cockpit!
Very cool that you specifically target the steam deck !!!!!!
woo the beginning of this game's really relaxing - I just sit and listen to the voice like it's some ASMR thing - and so far (I tried 43 entries on this jam) you made the best entry according to the "safari" theme. It's a great simulation, the color palet's beautiful, I think the only mess's about when you have to actually fight but idk.. at the end it's kinda realistic x') after all we're controling some huge truck, but it doesn't seem aimed for fight those drones.
Great game none the less
Haha, thanks alot, yeah I got stuck into the "make this good. And then move to next" I couldn't polish the fights in time. The goal was never to fight 3 waves, only 1~2 wave and then you get escorted, that's why the line differs from what happened in game. But I am glad that first part went well, it's the part that worried me most.
it was an enjoyable experience
looking forward to seeing what comes next
