Nice implementation of the theme! One thing I recommend is some sort of enemy progression (maybe you already has this but I became invincible after approximately half the upgrades, so more health and speed to the enemies wouldn't hurt ). Also, I noticed a small bug; when buying upgrades, the trash count doesn't update until you close the upgrade screen. The game could also use some sound effects. Other than that, really great game and I hope you had fun making it. (I hope I don't sound too negative in this comment...)
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
I tried to make the enemies progressively stronger and harder to beat, but I couldn't manage to balance the game very well in the time I had. However, improving the game's difficulty and making it more fun is definitely on my list after the jam ends.
And yes I agree, the lack of sounds is a big disadvantage. I've postponed it too much and I couldn't add them in time.
And again, thank you for the feedback! I absolutely had a lot of fun making it and I learned a lot!
Good game. A little bit of tuning is all it needs to become great!
Thank you for playing!
I honestly felt the developer's desire to stretch the theme of jam to fit their idea rather than work with the established theme.
I believe that Game Jams are made for developers to bend the theme and to think for unique ways to make something fun, while also learning in the process. I chose my game's idea because I wanted to try something new that I wasn't familiar with, just to learn new things, while still delivering on the theme
then put yourself in the organizer's shoes and the participants will all work in the same way, but there will be someone like you who will do things their own way, thinking that it's possible... I don't even know what to say to you about this...
Good concept, however the game runs a bit laggy. My feedback is that the models feel a bit static, you should add some animations and some effects to give a more dynamic gameplay. Another advise is to make a wave system, because there are a lot of enemies in screen (maybe the source of the lag) and give the player some rest to buy upgrades between rounds. But overall great game, Good work!
Thank you for playing! I am aware the poor performance issues, but I did not have much time to optimize my game. Also, enemies currently do have a bobbing effect. I will keep in mind these things for future updates and games
I like the concept and execution!
I always try to give one piece of advise for future jams: if you open up a menu with a button ('E' for the trashbin), then I think it would make it smoother to also close the menu with the same button. Just a tiny bit of advice.
Good job!
Thank you for the piece of advice! I will definitely keep this in mind for future projects
Really fun! The visuals are charming and the gameplay cycle is addicting
Thank you for playing
really liked it felt like vampire survivors with the onion weapon only thing is took me a while to know where the upgrades are
I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes Vampire Survivors was definitely the inspiration
Loved this! The start was a little stressful, but once you understand what the upgrades do and how they work, it becomes incredibly satisfying, a very nice "number go up" feeling. It would be nice to see enemies scale with your upgrades, maybe stronger enemies spawn at certain levels, but this was a great time!
thanks for the comment! The enemies do become stronger in time, but I think they are still too weak for the last upgrades.
