Submission Description
This is my first time doing anything like this and let's just say that poor time management and illness really downsized my lofty ambitions (you can definitely tell I'm still sick in the vocals) .
I envision this game as being a side scrolling souls-like / metroidvania similar to Hollow Knight with a dark and gloomy atmosphere.
Here's the description / track list which you can also find on the main page:
A child of wood, metal and gears is brought into the world by the Queen of Clocks. Will he be able to do what her many thoughtless drones could not and defeat the Queen of Thorns who threatens the very foundation of his world?
Tracks:
1 - The Workshop Where She Made You
The theme of the workshop where the Queen of Clocks made the Clockwork Child. It serves as the main hub area of the game where the player can rest and upgrade their equipment and strength.
2 - The Thrall Factory
Created in the center of the vast factory of the Queen of Clocks, the Child must first make his way past and through the seemingly endless assembly lines that churn out the thoughtless automata who serve his mother.
3 - A Forest of Life and Metal
After navigating the vast factory, the Child must make his way through a verdant forest that has grown upon the Queen of Clock's vast scrapyard. There are so many plants, it's hard to tell that something ever lay beneath.
4 - The Queen of Thorns
After a long journey, the Child arrives at the throne room of the Queen of Thorns and must face her in battle!
Track 4 is, at best, 75% finished but I felt like I needed some kind of an ending.

I hope you're feeling better. As for your songs, I think they're a very good, consistent piece of work, well integrated into your game concept. I especially liked the first track. Congratulations on your first jam!
Really nice work!
Personally I would've preferred more reverb to give a sense of a bigger space and glue all the sounds together more, but that's probably personal taste mostly 😁
Other than that, really enjoyed listening, good work!
I really like the minimalistic vibes in these. I would even go as far to say that I would have loved to really hear it more/leaned in to! I think then, like what is heard in the final track, a more full/complex track would have that much more impact.
Congrats on completing your first jam! :)
Despite this being your first time doing something like this, I enjoyed this whole submission quite a bit.
There's a lot of attention to detail, especially in the instruments playing the melody, and I think your use of dynamics was well done. You also have a good sense of harmony that fits the idea of the game. Hopefully you continue to improve on these! Was not expecting vocals at all, so that was a pleasant surprise to hear in the final track.
I think if I were to give feedback here, it would probably have to do with the balance between the instruments. To my ears at times it felt like the melody was not as forward in the mix as it could be IMO, which I mostly felt in the second track with the heavier percussive/bass instruments.
While I'm sure it aligns with the theme, there does seem to be a pretty clear vision for this soundtrack that was executed quite well, so thanks for sharing it here. Keep up the good work :)
Great work! The orchestration is excellent. It might be a bit minimalist, but it never gets in the way and is very pleasant to listen to. The compositions feel like they belong to an expansive world full of mysteries and surprises, with a somewhat dark aura that suits it perfectly.
The biggest surprise for me was the use of choirs in "The Queen of Thorns" — very well done!
All in all, a fantastic job. Keep it up!
I appreciate you listing the Hollow Knight inspiration because I definitely got that sense from the soundtrack! As a self-proclaimed beginner, I really appreciate how much space you tend to give the tracks. While I agree with others that you could develop more of a focus on instrumentation, I can see that you have a good sense for song arrangement and not layering too many ideas all at once. I think it would be good to focus on sound selection so that certain instruments (eg. bells) don't sound too muddy or harsh, but overall I really enjoyed this submission's cohesiveness. My favorite tracks were the Thrall Factory and the Queen of Thorns because of their ability to generate a specific atmosphere. Good job!
If this is your first go at this type of thing, you did really well. The last track shows the fuller potential of this OST. I think the more minimal arrangement works fine for these pieces, but I also felt at times that I was hoping for a bit more texture, color, and thematic material. The soundtrack works well as is because there seemed to be a unified style to the compositions, whether that was fully intentional or not. Seeing as this is your first time, that is totally fine (and would be if it weren't your first time also). I would encourage you to explore other ways of creating sections in your future pieces. This can help melodies take different shapes and arcs.
I liked your unique take on the theme!
Hello. First of all I'd like to say I genuinely enjoy the direction you took. I took the time to listen to the entire thing at least a couple of times and I do want to be honest and in good faith. The theme and compositional quality is consistent throughout your OST. One personal opinion is I feel there could be a bit more added to some parts of the songs. The ideas and the themes are so succinctly illustrated, in an ergonomic way, that I can easily tell what you are going for. I'd just like to hear some parts developed more (in regards to instrumentation or sfx). All in all, quite enjoyable.
