What is the property of the spider net?

Developer

They just trap things, an object on a web can’t be moved.

May I request a hint to Variety: Trigger and Idea?

Developer

Trigger:

Hint 1 A good first step is to focus on finding a way onto the upper portion of the level. Is there any way you could activate the button for the pair of flowers without being on the upper floor yourself? If you have an idea but are struggling with the setup, try getting things as close to where you want them as you can before dropping down.
Hint 2 Once you've found a way onto the upper platform, the next issue is getting the wood block where you want it. Is there a setup similar to the first step that could help you here? Note that it shouldn't be exactly the same since you don't want to leave anything on the lower floor.

Idea:

Hint 1 It is hard to get past the right flower even with it lowered because of the corner, but what makes turning corners an issue in the first place? Is there something you could do to make corners a nonissue?
Hint 2 The light usually stops you from turning corners. In other levels, you sometimes balance the light on a flower or platform to get around this restriction, though the layout of the buttons prevents that here. What else could you do to get your light out of the way?
Hint 3 If you are having trouble with the setup, consider the different ways you could use the two moths. How could a flying moth help?

Alright, I give up, any hints for Variety:Socket?

Developer
Hint 1 This level can be a bit misleading. Note that the button being so far from the crate on the upper floor means there is no way to ride the other crate in a way that would be helpful. What options does that leave?
Hint 2 If the lizard isn't able to get into a position to push the crate, what else could you use?
Hint 3 The setup is a bit tricky since you need to get both the lizard and light onto the upper floor. Due to how the flowers are positioned relative to the button, you won't be able to achieve this if the light or lizard are what is holding the button down.

I’m so embarrassed. I had it solved, just didn’t think to do that last move to push the crate in to the upper button. I guess certain movements are not intuitive to me yet.

(1 edit)

is it possible please to give me some hint for Row? Or the solution for that level? I really believe I have tried everything … Thanks a lot

Developer
Hint 1 The level becomes unsolvable if either of the moths at the edges of the level move. Due to how the buttons are placed, you will never be able to get it back on the button without accidently moving it back off shortly after. Is there a way you could move the last moth without disrupting the others?
Hint 2 You can avoid moving the moths already in position if you move the last moth without the light ever entering the bottom row. Note that with enough space, you can circle around your light without actually moving it, which will be useful here.

Got it, thank you!
excellent game by the way!

I made it through six levels in the Variety area, but now I’m stuck on several others. For Retrieval…

Spoiler

It seems like I’m supposed to put the snowball on a moth and entice the moth away from the wall. But no matter what I do, the moth continues all the way to the light, which makes the snowball melt. I vaguely remember a mechanic where the moth only follows one space before losing sight of the light, but I can’t see a way to make that happen here either.

Developer
Hint 1 It sounds like you're on the right track. The lizard is locked in place while the moth travels but is there anything in the level that you could cause to move during that time? If you want to revisit it, the level you're remembering is Glimpse in the Snow area.
Hint 2 If you're struggling to get an obstacle between the light and the moth, could you instead get the light itself to move out of the way? The second moth will be helpful here.

May I have hints for Gate, Control and Glow? That’s the only 3 I have left and it feels like I am missing (or forgot) some mechanic(s). Took me a really long time to get here: if revisiting some levels would help, please let me know.

Developer

I’d recommend starting with Gate, the first hint is mainly just an observation to help reduce the possibility space. The hints for Control and Glow are probably not very helpful so let me know if you’d like additional guidance or if there are any assumptions you’d like confirmed/denied.

Gate:

Hint 1 Working backwards, the last step will be to push a moth upwards onto the button. Due to how enclosed the area below the button is, the only way to get a moth into this position is to push it upwards when it is on the tile below the blue flower (just to rule out some other potential options, the wall two tiles left of the blue flower blocks any potential diagonal moves and while you could theoretically get the light on the button to pull the moth up, moving off of the button would immediately push it back down). This makes the goal of the level to get a moth onto the tile below the blue flower while the player is in a position to push it.
Hint 2 Already having an object on your light when you activate the blue flower will force you to push it down, though this general setup looks promising. Is there any way you could get an object over to you after you've already used the blue flower?
Hint 3 There isn't a way to get the light on the upper floor in the 2x2 below the button. How could you get a flying moth to move if you can't get it to see the light directly?

Control:

Hint 1 You can only let the moth see the light for one time step, but there isn't anything that could help block its line of sight. What options does that leave?

Glow:

Hint 1 Once the lizard moves to the lower floor, there is no way back up without leaving the light below, so you'll need to stay on the upper platforms. The moths are also stuck on the upper floor (you could technically put the snow on the button and melt it to try to lower one but that would leave you in a fail state). Note that trying to push the snow downwards is also not helpful since this would trap the light above it with no access to the blue flower. With these constraints in mind, how could the extra moths and block help you melt the snow in a way that doesn't immediately alert the moth above the button?

Could I get a hint for Variety: Islands? That’s my last unsolved one of the Variety level.

Spoiler I'm pretty sure the snowball needs to be used to get the wood block away from the wall when dropped down to the lower level. From there, there are some variations of getting the moths to either of the buttons, but not both at the same time. By placing the ball under a moth, I'm able to drag the other moth around, including onto the platform to lower it to the floor. It seems like what I really need is to get the ball on top of the block or the lizard, but I'm not seeing how.
