This suggestion is based upon what happened in one GameJam that just recently ended.
Itch.io Scoring system is based upon idea that if some entry gets too few votes, then its score is adjusted automatically down.
Although could argue why automatically down, this does, however, make sense.
But, there is one flaw that should be corrected in my opinion. For while it makes sense to adjust points down for lower voted entries, when looking them against the MOST voted ones, it doesnt necessarily make sense to use the adjusted scoring, when looking at NEXT places.
For in this Specific GmaeJam, situation was that MOST voted game got 20 votes.
Then roughly half, or even over half of the games received 11 or 12 votes.
What happened was that Games that got 12 votes, received their points without adjustment, and then games that got 11 votes, got their points adjusted down.
This also resulted that some of those 11 voted games got much lower placement, than they should.
For example, Number 3 and 4 switched places thanks to that. And a game that became number 10, would have become number 6 without point adjustment.
My point here is, that if maximum amount of votes, that any game had received, had been 12, then those games with 11 votes wouldn't have got downadjusted score.
Therefore, when comparing 11 votes games placements, against 12 vote games placements, the adjusted score shouldnt be taken into consideration.
As in this case since 3rd and 4th place were going to 11 and 12 voted games, then when deciding which one of these two become the third game, 11 votes game shouldnt have got downadjusted score, since if 12 votes had been the maximum votes, then there hadnt been any point adjusting, and therefore when deciding 3rd and 4th place between these two, there shouldnt be any point adjusting done either.
