I loved this game! Presented beautifully and polished, with simple yet very engaging writing. The arcade-y graphics and character portraits all left plenty to the imagination, and it kept me gripped to the very end.

The gameplay is simple and to the point. While there's little challenge or strategy involved, it does precisely what it needs to for being a game jam game. I was easily funneled to the end and enjoyed every minute of it. It was paced very very well.

I also loved the "HAROOMPH" when your character dives over a ledge. Little details like that add so much...

Amazing job!

Haha, judge Holden was actually my main inspiration when I decided to make the sergeant kind of a personification of something wicked/malevolent spirit. But that pose was purely accidental xD

Congratulations on your placement for the jam!! Great work <3

Fast paced and fun gameplay, ripe for speedrunning.

Loved the game's art style and design choices. It made me chuckle, but also helped immerse me in the suprisingly compelling story, unraveling an important message.

Brainless fun yet thought provoking, perfect for myriad of gamers!

Negatives for the game were minimal, but the explosion sound effects got a bit tough on my ears nearing the end. I have sensitive hearing, and the sound effect bar in the options wasn't enough for me to lessen the ear strain (aside from muting the effects all together). Easy enough fix by lowering the system volume though.

Excited for future projects!

Known bugs/issues:

  • There is a chance that a stage gets skipped. If, after the stage changes,  immediately after you enter the next stage the score counter whistle is heard and the CRT filter is off, you know the stage skip bug just happened.
  • In the last stage (Towns Forgotten 3) there is a small 2 tile area next to the church, where you can get stuck if the mine in front of it is blown up and you fly in there.

Hope you don't run into them. If you do, sry <3

This game was very chilling and i think the presentation was really good! I can see this being an anti-war game from back in the day

Enjoyment: I love blowing myself up for my country 5/5

Presentation : This looks straight out of an arcade machine cabinet, so anyone can blow themselves up even on a toaster, and appreciate the visual style of the art. 5/5

Creativity: Nobodys ever made a game where you willingly step into landmines for a highscore, does it get more creative than that? 5/5

Adherence To Theme:  Would have loved to see more underground setting, the "sewer dweller" looked promising though ;D 4/5
