Submission Description
Kept a devlog/journal during the jam:
https://eetusuikkanen.github.io/blog/2026-ost-album-jam/
Made the tracks with a game that's something like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in mind
Only got a couple short tracks and a combat track done but hopefully they feel cohesive enough
TRACKS:
1 - Stand As One: This one was the first track I made intending to use it as a theme for the player faction/good guys and also an attempt at the Challenge #6, I took elements from that and used those in the rest of the tracks too
2 - Passing Time: Music to play in a shop menu between levels? or something of the sort
3 - Covert Movement: Meant for Challenge #3, bgm while you're moving around in a level without having been spotted by any enemies yet.
4 - Rising Tide: Boss/Combat music to hit things to, what more is there to say? ๐
Wish I had gotten more tracks/challenges done, but somehow I managed to do fuck all for most of the jam ๐
Thanks for listening/rating and all feedback is very much welcome!

oh yeah, this also is one of my fave submissions. listened some time ago but haven't left a comment. came to revisit. great compositional skills. i like all of them but Rising Tide is something special. there are only a couple things i'd point out:
- the mix is generally well done, though there are some parts that stick out to me. it's not so much a levels thing so much as i think it may be an EQ and/or compression thing. specifically, the plucked instrument & synth (the one around) around 01:36 of Rising Tide, as well as the lead synth in Passing Time stacked on the pads.
- while i'm a big fan of this soundtrack, i find the written context necessary to make the connection to the jam's theme (except for Rising Tide. it's flames). without it i feel the soundtrack could fit a variety of other games.
all in all a high quality submission
Agree on the mix! I went a bit overboard with the EQ on some of the "lead" instruments like the nasal synth in Rising Tide, kinda takes a bit of the power from the sounds away made them too mellow and in the background as a result, also in retrospect I would've personally preferred a bit more reverb on these since I tweaked the routing of my orchestral template midway during the jam and accidentally had all of my parallel compression busses bypassing my reverbs which kinda made the sound too dry๐
I never really formed a solid story, setting and game play idea for this one, so I just went with a pretty broad arcadey action/beat em up game setting for these, which I had failed to mention alongside the metal risingish feel to it on the actual submission description, as it seems I only wrote that stuff in my devlog/journal... ๐
Glad you liked them!
Hi, it's been a great, very consistent piece of work. I really like the battle theme "Rising Tide"; I feel it's quite epic for a final boss. Unfortunately, I've never played Metal Gear Rising, so I have no reference point for the story, setting, or gameplay you intended to integrate the music into. Therefore, I can't assess whether it fits the jam's theme. Sorry.
Glad you liked them!

Hey Eetu! Also great to hear another submission from you! (I didn't think I was going to make it either, but I thankfully did)
Wow the Eastern sounding instruments was a strange mix for sure! Good work here. I like it. It is very peaceful and quiet. Calm. Well, at least the second two. The battle song is solid work! Whopm! Love it man. Really good mixing. Although, you horns in first song sounded a little flat. Mine do usually as well. It is just really hard to get sample brass to sound good! Maybe the pauses were to long? But "Rising Tide" was awesome. Good work man!
Glad you liked them!
The brass flatness is mostly just due to my bad CC programming ๐ The Hollywood Brass sounds I used are actually really nice, but as with all samples they need good dynamics/expression automation to not sound dead on the long notes which I did a pretty poor job with since I kinda lost motivation on working that track after I started it.
Totally understand! I am awful at my CC programming as well. In fact, I just figured out how to use it, well, poorly, in Ableton lol. Again, great work here!
Some very good work! The far east instruments were an interesting choice, and I think they worked well in the middle two tracks (track 4 appearance also good!). The final track is quite nice. Very epic.
Always liked the sound of the Shamisen after hearing Yoshida Brothers music and the Sci-fi/AI theme got me thinking of the original Blade Runner soundtrack that used a Koto at parts in it so thought using those for these would be fitting ๐
Glad you liked them!
I really liked Rising Tide! Very cool track!
Glad you liked it!
