How did you implement the Theme: Devious Puppeteer in your game?
It's mostly subtle and vague. I took the theme of the challenge as symbolic rather than literal. There is some usage of "scopophobia" (Fear of being observed/watched), which implies that the main protagonist (The Child) is akin to being part of a grander play that the final release of the game is yet to expand upon.
For a visual novel done in Ren'Py, doing back-end alone is not my greatest suit. However, the second character is inspired by stage plays (Her sprites do look like she is on a stage play), therefore, she is designed to resemble a character you might see on theater.
Did you implement any of the Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
The only sections that I did the Bonus Challenges are having a puppet show within the visual novel, and the Player attempting to control the main character's choices (Despite most of the game's plot and gameplay being linear, the Player has a bunch of choices to decide the Child's character in the demo. There are not much choices, but the dialogue that follows shows how clueless the Child is to the Player's existence... compared to the demo in Zero Hours Later showing that build-up of awareness of the Player's actions).
The CG scenes in the demo have implications of a puppet show (and puppets). There is a bit of foreshadowing in one of the CGs, however. But that's all I can say for this demo build I will submit.

Pretty interesting! The storytelling is great and I love the design of the Pioneer! I also like seeing the story through the lens of the child's eyes and how she interprets her life. Well done!
This was fun to read! I like being able to choose different dialogue options!
It's interesting how the game is connected to a different project as well.
I think the theme of the jam is applied well in this game!
It's an improvement since the first game, but I am planning to rework the demo for the previous project too with an expanded demo story and more options (for tomfoolery).
But I'm glad you did enjoy it!
Hi, can I ask you how you got your game's cover art to look so crisp on itch.io? I'm not sure why, but mine keeps looking blurry. Even when I upload at the recommended size.
Also love your game btw!
If you're speaking about the thumbnail of the game, I had to work strictly with the given dimensions of the canvas. The logo was made at a bigger size, but being mostly lasso, it is less of a problem unless the edges blur (I had to use the Sharpen option under the Filter in Clip Studio).
