Fun game - good work!
Great pirate atmosphere! The music is fantastic. Unfortunately, I'm a terrible sailor, so my ship mostly rotated in place, but maybe that's because I'd make an awful pirate.
No worries, it took my time to learn how to sail too! I knew a bit about sailing from windsurf but turning that into a game has been very challenging. Thanks for playing!
it is interesting!! but i think it is not following the theme. nice mechanic with the wind play.
Theme is an interepretation. I am not trying to convince anyone about it. But a pirate that hides from the pirate hunters ships who seek for you, pretty much follow the theme. I should probably make the pirate hunters to be more than one ship, so you have stronger arguments to thide from them. You get the information in the tavern about what is the next island to explore that is free of pirate hunters. You can also seek for the merchants to get resources.
Just gave it a play. Reminds me of this game on pc i used to play as a kid called like imaginx pirates or something like that. Invokes good memories.
Imaginext pirate rider? I have been looking for it in google and I did not know it. I have seen many like those, they did not have the wind constraints in the game play and I always wondered why, that is the reason I gave it a try :).
Happy it brough you good memories!
Good idea, very simplistic in a positive way: you quickly understand that the core challenge is really fighting the wind to keep your course. It creates a calm but strategic atmosphere, and it fits the jam theme well.
The mechanics are interesting: the wind shifting with time of day, the no‑sail red zone, the wind‑based combat mode, the rough navigation plotting… it all works nicely. The challenge of finding places is enjoyable too, even if sometimes a tiny bit more guidance would help.
Overall: solid concept, simple but effective. Well done.
Interesting concept, not much polish. Hard to discern any real goal, more of a simulator.
Can't tell how this fits the theme of the jam at all, which raises a red flag that it might've been made before or outside of the jam.
I did it during the weekend, from the scratch, not ouside the jam (I do 2D games, not started with 3D yet), that is for sure. The idea behind is that you are a pirate and you have to "hide" from the pirate hunters, so there are in 3 islands leaving one free. It is in the tavern where you find information about merchants and pirate hunters. Your goal is find Sao Fengs treasure (it is the first line you see in the game as "next treasure will be the one").
I like trying new mechanics and concepts in game jams, but I think this is a bit too deep for a game jam.
To polish this game need at least 1 month :D.
Thanks for being the first pirate!
